Austin Palette Club

Austin Palette Club Palette Club members are very diverse. They paint in mediums of their choice. The club has two shows a year, spring and fall.

The Austin Palette Club was founded in 1971 by seven women attending an oil painting class. The early meetings were held at the Austin Public Library. The club is open to membership of all ages. Members give encouragement and help to each other.

On Tuesday, March 15, APC’s own Patti Herndon will demo "painting gourds" for the Club.
To make this great folk art even better, Patti has planned a hands-on experience for Members who wish to participate.
Patti’s happy thought is for gourd-painters to befriend one's chosen gourd -- find out who it is or what it wants to be — to help with knowing how to paint that special gourd.
Patti says that on Tuesday she will have gourds for everyone who needs one, and "will have (her) acrylics, brushes, small palettes and water bowls for the tables. (but) I would appreciate anyone who wants to bring their own acrylics and brushes (to do so)."
APC is fortunate to have Member Patti share her painting specialty with us,
So, bring your acrylics and brushes if you have them, and --
Come on Tuesday to try a new technique for making timeless art.

Austin Palette Club, 2874 Shoal Crest Ave., Lamar Senior Activity Center, at N. Lamar and 29th Street. Guest are welcome. Open to all ages. You do not have to be a senior to attend. Tuesday last, March 8, 2016, Helen Green, a well known Austin artist, presented to the membership of Austin Palette Club a demonstration on the art of watercolor. She is a wonderful speaker as well as an accomplished teacher. Everyone agreed that her demonstration and instructions on how to handle the brush and color was very instructive. Helen is a member of Waterloo Watercolor Club and invited all to join her as a member of that group. Many of our demonstrators have been members of that old and established group. In kind we would like to have the members of Waterloo Watercolor to join our group. Our goals and interest in art would blend nicely.............. Find her at helenfaythegreen.com.
Attached are photos of Helen's demonstration.

Austin Palette Club Members —

On Tuesday, March 8, APC will have an opportunity to see outstanding watercolor artist Helen Faythe Green demo her work. Ms. Green’s colorful and expressive style in watercolor is one that many APC members have expressed interest in learning to produce.
Ms. Green has this to say about her art:

"Helen Faythe Green's painting is an expression of her love of color, line, and pattern. Her lifelong passions for her family, her art, and nature have informed and inspired her artistic creations. Helen currently lives in Austin, Texas, where she is an active member of the Waterloo Watercolor Group."

Feb. 9, 2016 --------- Austin Palette Club was pleased to have as our guest this morning Ms Sherry Fields, a Visual Artist well known in Austin as a professional artist and art teacher. She demonstrated for our members and guest her techniques of rendering pastels. She demonstrated by doing a painting showing the group how she painted in the background first, in the darkest colors, and then brought in the brighter colors to establish the perception of depth. She stressed the importance of value in a painting and how to acheive it. Several members brought cakes and sweets. along with a basket of colored beads for Fat Tuesday - to honor the coming New Orleans celebration. We had the best of both worlds - an informative and entertaining demo and good food at the break. Please see our page, listed under Austin Palette Club for information on the group. Follow our page for upcoming demonstrations. (Photo by Renie Vasquez)
