𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐭 / 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭-𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝

New music, new painting, same idea.
“𝑀𝑢𝑑 𝑆𝑙𝑖𝑑𝑒” — sound translated into color, rhythm into motion.

Debuts live Tuesday at the Elephant Room.

On Tuesday at the Elephant Room, Double Vision will debut my last new tune of 2025 — “𝐌𝐮𝐝 𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞.”

My co-leader and longtime music brother John Mills Music 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 just released a beautiful new record, 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑌𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 𝑅𝑜𝑙𝑙 𝐵𝑦. I play piano on it, and there’s a tune John wrote called “𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠” — a deep nod to New Orleans and that unmistakable second-line feel.

John Mills Times Ten has been together for about 𝟏𝟔 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, and this is our 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦, so that sound runs deep. Hearing that tune pushed me to write my own take on the 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐲 / 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐌𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐲 groove — laid back, greasy, and southern to the core.

That tune is “𝐌𝐮𝐝 𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞,” and we’ll be debuting it with 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 this Tuesday at the 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦🐘🎶. Same vibe in paint too — my companion piece 𝑀𝑢𝑑 𝑆𝑙𝑖𝑑𝑒 is all wet streets, humidity, and that French Quarter glow after dark.

“Mud Slide” sits right in that laid-back, greasy pocket — the kind of groove you only hear in the South. And the companion painting is my way of capturing that wet street, humid, French Quarter at night vibe.

We’re excited to share this great clip from The Marino Show, featuring 𝐣𝐚𝐳𝐳 𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐇𝐞𝐡𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐭𝐡, founder of 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬.

In this interview, Hank discusses scoring the 1991 indie film \𝑆𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑦 𝑀𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑒, filmed right here in Austin — a project that showcases his fusion of jazz harmony, cinematic texture, and creative storytelling.

David Marino also highlights Hank’s touring work with Christopher Cross, including his performance on the Oscar-winning hit “𝐴𝑟𝑡ℎ𝑢𝑟’𝑠 𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑚𝑒.” 🎷

𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞. 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞. 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜.

In this summer’s 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 show at Walker Gallery, two TSF works explore freedom in deeply personal ways:

🖐️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 — a pastel moment of childhood joy and selfhood.
🧠 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 — a layered rush of consciousness in motion.

Open to the public June 28 – Aug 23
Reception: July 18

𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬?
𝐈 𝐝𝐨.

The ridges of the Badlands ripple like chord changes. That sky bleeds modal harmony. The silence between those distant rock walls — that's negative space in a composition.

🎨🎶 This is the idea behind 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬 — an ongoing exploration of how sound, image, memory, and moment weave together.

𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂 𝒔𝒕𝒚𝒍𝒆. 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒂 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.
Sometimes it’s jazz. Sometimes it’s paint. Sometimes it’s a strange silence that makes you lean in.
