Ever wondered how to keep bronze sculptures looking good? Find out at our Bronze Care Workshop on November 21! Join our curatorial team and conservators from OnAim Conservation for a look at bronze history, real stories from the field, and a hands-on demo of washing and waxing techniques. Then grab your gloves to get experience caring for Umlauf bronzes throughout the Garden. Lunch is provided. On September 27, we're taking UMLAUF Members behind the doors that aren't open to the public. Come with us to experience an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the LBJ Presidential Library, beginning with VIP access to the Presidential Suite. Located on the 10th floor, the Presidential Suite is the private space President and Mrs. Johnson created to host dignitaries, friends, and distinguished guests.

Did you know that LBJ once wrote directly to Charles Umlauf himself, congratulating him on his Ford Foundation grant? Decades later, we're honored to walk our members through the convergence of this local history.

This painted terracotta bust of Martha Wilson, who modeled and studied at UT, was crafted by Charles Umlauf between 1944 and 1946. More than 50 years later, Martha purchased the sculpture while visiting Louis Umlauf, one of the sculptor's children. Today it belongs to Martha's own children, pictured here, who generously loaned it for this exhibition. Thank you Betsy, Christie, and Scott!

Family Day returns on Sunday, September 13 and this time we're celebrating Umlauf's Animals. This Family Day takes inspiration from the creatures Charles Umlauf sculpted and the ones that live in our garden. Come for circus performances by Jungle Movement Academy, Storytime with Meredith Wilson, live animals, crafts, a sculpture search, and community partners throughout the day.
