We've been busy unpacking the artworks that will be on view for our next exhibition, 35x35x35, celebrating 35 years of the UMLAUF. This incredible redwood carving comes to us courtesy of Charles and Angeline Umlauf's nephew, Arthur Allen.

35𝘹35𝘹35 opens next week and the art has been arriving at the U. Over the last few weeks, Charles Umlauf works from collections nationwide have been making their way to us by plane, by bus, and by car. These works have been selected from collections not normally on view to the public. This exhibition will celebrate 35 years of the UMLAUF and showcase the breadth of Umlauf's artistic legacy.

Join us for the opening reception on Wednesday, June 24 from 6–8PM. Free and open to all.

Whether you're making art, enjoying a story, or exploring the sculptures, there's something for everyone. It's a wonderful opportunity to get outside, connect with the community, and enjoy one of Austin's beautiful green spaces.

Congratulations to our Executive Director and Curator, Dr. Katie Robinson Edwards, who was presented the Katherine Drake Hart Award by the Austin History Center Association recognizing individuals dedicated to preserving Austin's history. The award itself is a work of art: a bronze sculpture titled "Pop the Whip" by the late Bob Coffee. A fitting addition for the leader of a museum built around the art of sculpture!

That's a wrap on 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘞𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳!

Tammie Rubin, Jennifer Ling Datchuk, and Yoshie Sakai brought sculpture, video installation, and mixed media that explored identity, migration, and belonging. We're grateful to the artists and to everyone who came to see it.

On June 11, 1991, the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum opened to the Austin community. Next Thursday we mark 35 years and we're inviting everyone to come celebrate! Admission is donation-based all day, with sweet treats from Blue Goo Bakery while supplies last.

The UMLAUF was founded on a gift from Charles and Angeline Umlauf, photographed here celebrating our first birthday. Thank you to everyone who has walked through this space over the last three and a half decades. We're excited for what the next 35 years will bring!
