After careful consideration, Groove Austin has decided to discontinue its monthly side room at the Fed (we'll have one last Final Groove Night Extravaganza on December 22, so mark your calendars and prepare to be there).
We would like to thank:
- Everyone who joined us for the happy hour and Johnny Boyd show we helped put on a few weeks ago; that was an amazingly fun night!
- Everyone who has DJ'd our room: Thain Maurer, Matthew B Jones, Colin Glenn Wise, Reed Penney, Shane Chambers, Jason Levitt, Kristin Buxton, Ben Nathan, and Jerry Warwick.
- Ruth Calisch for helping promote our events on Facebook.
- Everyone who has attended and supported Groove Austin and our monthly night of medium tempo, post-war swing music bliss over the course of the past five years.
Groove Austin was conceived during a conversation between Nathan Malone & Titus Fortner at the Fed on October 6, 2011. A few weeks later we sent out surveys (http://svy.mk/2emsYJP) to gauge the interest in having a dance, and then got permission from the Syndicate Board to do a third side room in January 2012 for 'The Night Austin Gets its Groove Back' (http://bit.ly/2erg8aV). It was a rousing success, and we soon displaced one of the monthly fast nights in the Georgian Room at the Fed, and proceeded to have five years of a (mostly) monthly Groove night.
We feel that five years is a good run, and we'd love to end on a high note in December, so please join us!
Thank you all,
Titus & Nathan
