Sign-up now to secure your spot with master printer Josh Orsburn!

Learn chiaroscuro lithography with Flatbed's master printer Josh Orsburn. Chiaroscuro is an Italian term meaning 'light-dark'. In printmaking, this is a way to print two values, a dark and a mid-tone, to suggest the volume and modeling of the subjects depicted. Orsburn takes this to another level by teaching how to combine a drawing done on a lithographic stone with the tones that are created on a photo-litho plate. This is a Master Class which will both challenge and delight you with the results.

Experience level: No previous experience needed for this class. It is recommended for seasoned artists who love process and drawing.

Along with this class you'll receive Open Studio privileges for one session.

Joan Winter, an artist who conveys the timeless quality of nature through abstraction. This week we are taking a look at prints by Joan Winter featured in The Sculptor’s Imprint Part 2 exhibition.

Winter works across sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and installation, with an approach attentive to material, structure, space, and the natural world. Her work moves between the physical presence of an object and the suggestion of architectural and organic form. In her prints, texture, repeated marks, layered imagery, and constructed space establish a strong connection to her three-dimensional practice. Often transferring wood textures to the etched plates, the printed surface becomes another material—one that can be built, divided, layered, and transformed.

Winter’s prints are available for purchase and will be on view till October 24!
