This is why we do what we do. 🩷

Meet Patricia Carley — a Ballet Austin season ticket holder for three years and counting. For Patricia, Ballet Austin isn't just a night out. It's a connection to Austin, a tradition with her son, and a reminder of why live dance matters.

This is what it means to keep art within reach for every generation, in every city, across every decade.

Thank you, Patricia, for sharing your family's story with us. ✨

Taking time to spend together is what the ballet is all about. ✨

Meet Juliet — a season ticket holder for over 35 years whose daughters and grandchildren have made Ballet Austin performances a cherished part of their lives together. This year, Juliet and her daughters attended every single production, while her four grandchildren experienced the magic of The Nutcracker and the world premiere of MARIE ANTOINETTE: Vampire Queen of Versailles.

This is what it looks like when art brings a family together. We are so honored to be part of it.

Happy Birthday to Anika Crouser! 🎉✨

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Anika trained at Dublin Dance Center and Columbus City Ballet before attending summer intensives at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and BalletMet. She went on to earn a BFA in Dance Performance and a BA in Creative Advertising from Southern Methodist University in 2023 — a combination as versatile as her artistry on stage.

At Ballet Austin, Anika has shined onstage in George Balanchine's Concerto Barocco, Jessica Lang's ZigZag, and as Waltz Soloist and the Snow Queen in Stephen Mills' The Nutcracker, and recently debuted as Pamina in The Magic Flute.

Wishing Anika a birthday as bright and beautiful as her time on our stage. Happy Birthday! 💫 Help us celebrate Anika by dropping your birthday wishes in the comments! ⬇️

Today we're wishing company dancer Colin Heino a very Happy Birthday! 🎂🥳

Originally from Plainfield, Illinois, Colin began dancing at age 8 and went on to train at some of the most prestigious programs in the country — including the Juilliard School, the Royal Ballet School, and Jacob's Pillow — before earning his BFA from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance in 2023.

Since joining Ballet Austin, Colin has captivated audiences as Mercutio in Stephen Mills' Romeo & Juliet and in featured roles in Christopher Wheeldon's Polyphonia, Jessica Lang's ZigZag, and Stephen Mills' Racing Beauty, BUBBLEGUM and Four Mortal Men, among others.

Drop your birthday wishes for Colin in the comments below and help us celebrate! 🎉 ⤵️

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. 🩷

Thank you to Curated Texan and Lance Avery Morgan for this beautiful feature on Artistic Director Stephen Mills — a quarter century of blurring boundaries, pushing the art form forward, and building something that belongs to all of us.

"Our audiences are diverse; the people who love movement, music, and the feeling of watching a human fly across space. Dance is for everyone." — Stephen Mills

We’re grateful for the spotlight and invite you to read the full story below to learn more about Stephen’s creative journey, inspiration, and lasting impact. 💫
