Choreographer and performer Evelyn Tejeda is a founding member of the Contemporary Dance National Company of the Dominican Republic, directed by Marianela Boan. Her work merges urban and contemporary dance to explore the body as memory, challenging feminine stereotypes through bold physicality and experimental use of objects.

Class Title: Beyond the Object: Expanding Movement Through Material

Class Description:
This workshop explores the relationship between the body and an object as a compositional tool in performance. Rather than using objects in a literal or decorative way, participants will investigate how material can expand physical language, alter spatial awareness, and generate new choreographic possibilities.

Through guided improvisation, sensory exploration, creative limitations, and structured composition tasks, dancers will learn how to transform an object into an extension of the body or even allow the body to become the object.

Participants are invited to bring a simple object of personal interest (a piece of paper, fabric, rope, book, etc.). No prior experience with object work is required.

The session might conclude with a short informal showing of material created during the workshop.

Class Title: Push, Pull, Launch!

Cami holds an MFA in Dance from Texas Woman’s University and integrates training in Horton, post-modern dance, and Bartenieff Fundamentals to craft dynamic classes and performances across K–12 schools, universities, and community centers. They founded CamiCollabs in 2022, producing original dance works, a dance festival, teaching, and consulting on multidisciplinary creative projects.

Using Cami’s dynamic mix of Bartenieff Fundamentals, Horton, and post-modern dance, this class invites dancers to explore three-dimensional movement pathways. Participants will push, pull, and launch through spirited phrasework, with floorwork included.

Class Title: Contact Improvisation - Accompanying

Jordan Fuchs Jordan Fuchs is a dance artist who focuses on the crafting of relationships between dancers, whether spatially through the use of counterpoint or through the touch-based partnering. He is Professor and Head of the Dance Division at TWU and founder of the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival.

Working in duets we will explore strategies for accompanying a partner through touch and proximity in order to expand their mobility, articulation and responsiveness to their environment before shifting to explore such strategies in larger ensembles.

Class title: Wish you were here: Contemporary and Monica Bill Barnes Rep

This movement class will be grounded in playfulness, humor, musicality, and exploration. Annika Sheaff’s love for building community through movement is centered in her teaching practice. Class begins with a thorough warm-up getting everyone sweaty, smiling, and connected. We then head into igniting our imaginations through traveling phrase work, using different visuals and prompts to move generously through space. The last portion of class Sheaff will teach part of the solo choreographed by Monica Bill Barnes that she is performing in the Austin Dance Festival.
