At first, Wakey, Wakey feels like an eccentric conversation filled with dry humor and scattered thoughts. Then the truth lands. Hyde Park Theatre’s production of Will Eno’s play is intimate and funny, and Ken Webster delivers a deeply human performance.

"A riveting tour de force performance . . . Webster's performance almost makes you wonder if Eno wrote the script with Ken in mind . . . It is a performance both playful and possessing layer upon layer of depth. . . . One of the most moving experiences I have had in a theatre. In many ways, it is a call for us to start conversations with strangers, to form connections where none have existed in the hope that we might walk out into the night air a little bit changed and a lot more loved. Please do yourself a favor and go experience this unique and slightly off kilter celebration of the things that, in the final analysis, truly matter."
- Broadway World Austin
“Universal and timeless.”
– Houston Press
"One of the most deceptively powerful plays of the year, full of wry, sarcastic humor, heart, and an ever-present, but slyly obscured sense of sorrow. . . . Webster has a rare skill in taking a text and spinning it, transforming it into something enrapturing."
- Austin Arts Watch
"Dazzlingly present."
- Houston Chronicle
"The appeal of Wakey, Wakey [is] the warm, witty, charming, resigned performance that Webster provides to an intimate audience...he turns the play into an outright celebration of what it means to live a worthwhile life that leaves an impact on other people. . . . In such divided times, the ultimate message of Wakey, Wakey feels radical rather than trite — share yourself with others, and take care of them, and they’ll do the same for you."
- Austin American Statesman
"A marvel to witness."
- Broadway World Houston
"Webster's performance radiates charm . . . Captivating, superbly funny . . . Eno's rapturous love affair with the full potential of the English language continues."
– Austin Chronicle

Webster has a rare skill in taking a text and spinning it, transforming it into something enrapturing. He's helped here by Eno's droll script, which packs quite a few laughs, and some truly pathos-laden moments, into its sixty minutes. . . The play’s charm and wit are incredibly winning, and will have you smiling and laughing throughout. But when you’re sitting with the play’s final moments, you may find something small being born in your stomach. It's the kind of feeling that finds you sitting on a train ride home, tears streaming down your face, looking out the windows, thinking 'Dammit, you got me.'"
