Over the past 12 weeks, a group of dedicated filmmakers, actors, and creatives came together to make 10 original short films. Now it's time to celebrate their work on the big screen.

This showcase features films from 3 directors, 5 writers & performances from 7 actors, spanning comedy, drama, suspense, and everything in between. Each project was created through Austin Film Meet's Reels Accelerator, a hands-on program designed to help artists stop waiting and start making films.

Come support local filmmakers, connect with the Austin film community, and enjoy an evening of original storytelling.

A fresh new voice is exactly what The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise needs. Rising horror filmmaker Curry Barker is drawing major attention after the success of Obsession, a low-budget horror hit praised for its psychological tension, atmosphere, and emotional storytelling. Critics and fans alike believe his approach could bring the franchise back to its raw, unsettling roots instead of relying purely on gore.

The original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre became iconic because of its realism and lingering dread, qualities Barker says he wants to recapture for a new generation. With horror fans cautiously optimistic, this could finally be the reinvention Leatherface deserves. Bring it on Barker!🔪🩸

💥 Big Texas TV news!

ABC has ordered a brand-new Grey’s Anatomy spinoff set in a rural West Texas medical center, premiering in 2027. 🌵🏥

Created by Grey’s veteran Meg Marinis and Shonda Rhimes, this drama will explore medicine “at the last chance for care before miles of nowhere”. It’s the third series in the Grey’s universe and brings national attention to Texas storytelling and talent❤️

Boerne is getting the Real Housewives treatment as Bravo heads to the Texas Hill Country with a brand-new reality series titled Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives! 🎥

Set in Boerne, Texas, the show will follow a circle of glamorous women as they juggle family life, ranches, social calendars and the drama behind the polished facade of West Texas life. 💅🤠

Expect relationships, rivalries, behind-the-scenes secrets that test loyalties against the beautiful backdrop of the Hill Country. Bravo hasn’t announced a premiere date or revealed the cast yet, but this promises to be must-watch TV! 👀✨

🎬 Paramount Theatre is rolling out its beloved Summer Classic Film Series starting May 22 before the historic downtown venue temporarily closes for a major restoration project later this summer. 📽️✨

For a few summer days that have become an Austin staple, classic films will screen on the big screen in 35mm before the theatre undergoes renovations to preserve this Austin treasure for decades to come. Don’t miss this last chance to enjoy the series at the original theatre! If you've never been, we highly encourage you to watch a movie in this special venue.
