Like Bamboo I stand strong as much as stay flexible. I allow the wind to move thru.

Singing can really be cathartic for me. I am learning to stay what i mean more and more. Musics helps with this aspect of my growth.

I was feeling myself this day. Lol got hype and wanted to document the fleeting moment… regardless, as i look at the picture now, this is the poem that came to mind. A favorite of mine, from Maya Angelou.

A poem that moved me, gave me pause, and stuck with me.

Helped me notice my smile in a new way + bring awareness to the feelings behind my smile.

Awareness is key, eh?

We wear the mask that grins and lies.
It shades our cheeks and hides our eyes.
This debt we pay to human guile
With torn and bleeding hearts…
We smile and mouth the myriad subtleties.
Why should the world think otherwise
In counting all our tears and sighs.
Nay let them only see us while
We wear the mask.

We smile but oh my God
Our tears to thee from tortured souls arise

The clay is vile beneath our feet
And long the mile

When I think about myself
I almost laugh myself to death.
My life has been one great big joke!
A dance that’s walked a song that’s spoke.
I laugh so hard HA! HA! I almos’ choke
