Antone's Austin's Home of the Blues for 50 years (and counting).

Established in 1975 by the late Clifford Antone, Antone’s is an iconic blues venue located in downtown Austin. Over the past 45 years, Antone’s has brought Austin a variety of blues and R&B musicians from across the country including B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Ray Charles, and James Brown, and helped develop local talent like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bob Schneider,

Gary Clark Jr., and others. In 2015, the historic brand was restored and a new team brought the iconic venue back to the downtown Austin landscape with a renewed focus on once again making Antone’s the “Home of the Blues.”

Today marks 20 years since the world lost Clifford Antone. He devoted his entire adult life to the blues and the musicians who played it. Clifford's generosity knew no bounds, and his love for the people who made the music was limitless.

There are countless Clifford stories, tales of doctor checkups and emergency operations, guitars loaned and purchased and handshake deals for shows that didn't do the numbers, and for every story we’ve heard, there are 100 more we haven’t.

His zealotry for music in Austin changed our city, and the players he championed changed the world and the trajectory of American music in the last half-century. Cliff's spirit lives on in all of us. And at Antone’s, we spend every day trying to fill the enormous shoes he left behind.

51 summers ago, Clifton Chenier opened up the first location on Antone's on 6th at Brazos; his son, CJ Chenier, keeps that tradition alive when he comes to town for every Antone's Anniversary. Come witness the zydeco magic next month on June 27th when C.J. returns with his band and opening act Gypsy Mitchell!

One of our absolute favorites Will Sexton will be back at Antone's ONE WEEK from tonight! A Mystic Knight, a Cliff's Kid, a prodigal son...he spends most of his time in Memphis now, and we're always so happy when he's back home onstage here.

He'll be joined by David Lee Holt, Tommy Taylor and Glenn Fukunaga for a special early show on May 26th, with Phil Hollie and his band closing out the night. Tickets on sale now you know where 🎫
