Founded in 1983 by Michael and Theresa Holden and led by Co-Directors Spring Karlo, Stacy Meshbane and Sarah Saltwick since 2017, Holden & Arts Associates is a booking and management company serving performing artists from across the globe and performing arts presenters across all of North America. We are proud to represent a variety of Youth & Family productions and Special Projects from our artistic partners. Our roster of talented companies and their offerings continues to surpass the high artistic and curriculum-based standards that Holden & Arts has provided its community of presenters and arts leaders for the last 38 years. Our artistic partners are both national and international award-winning companies and are among the leaders in their genres. They represent a breadth of cultural experience and aesthetic approach. Our North American presenting partners are among the leaders and risk takers in their communities; from large cities to small towns, they value high quality performances and professionalism in all the artistic work they present on their stages.

"In today’s digital age, a shared live experience is more important than ever before. We are consuming more entertainment alone on various screens that monopolize our time and leave us more and more isolated. Performances for youth and family audiences provide a powerful opportunity to gather together, bring intention to the art we consume, and connect us through a shared experience that emphasizes our humanity, hearts and minds.

Our work has the opportunity for nourishment and impact. The young people who come to your venue are future audience members and leaders, but they are also current community members with rich inner lives and imaginations. They deserve art forward work, intentionally crafted with them in mind. The performances on HAA’s 2027-2028 roster feed an audience’s curiosity, encourage deep attention and creativity, and celebrate values such as friendship, kindness, and belonging..." Today’s webinar highlight is “TYA Tour Development Collective: Looking Back & Looking Forward.” Get the inside scoop of the evolution of the TYA Tour Development Collective, a group of venues working together to help fund new US-based touring work. The Collective is now almost two years old and gone through multiple application and funding cycles. What have we learned along the way? Where are we going next? How can more venues and artists get involved? Ideal for anyone looking to learn about partnerships and new funding models. Attend this Webinar by clicking here and registering for the Festival & Conference Virtual Track: https://www.tyausa.org/virtual26/

From our colleague Mary Rose Lloyd at New Victory - "The most important truth is that young people, no matter where they’re from, want to be as entertained, challenged, and awestruck as the rest of us do. Young audiences are open and imaginative; they have fewer pre-conceived notions about what theatre is and can invest themselves in adventurous and abstract storytelling. Not to mention that exposing a child to the wonders of theatre helps to ensure that they’ll be a lifelong theatregoer, in turn hopefully elevating their overall understanding of and compassion for humanity. That’s why we continue our work in elevating TYA, to shine a light on what artists all over the world are doing for this vital, ever-evolving audience."

New Victory Theater’s artistic director makes the case for breaking down borders, both between ‘adult’ and youth theatre and between U.S. and global work.
