Walking Shadow Shakespeare Project Shakespearean productions and workshops for the 21st Century actor, audience, and student!

Founded in 2011, the mission of Walking Shadow Shakespeare Project is to unite classical texts with a contemporary community through innovative and accessible productions, social events, and educational opportunities. We want every actor - regardless of race, gender, or ability - to feel the power that can come from living these characters on stage. We want them to get to be swept up in the poetry

, the romance, and the magic without being alienated by language representative of a 16th century mindset.

The Great Austin Shake Off: 2026

Together we raised over $6,600 dollars for ourselves, The Baron’s Men, Austin Shakespeare, and ATX theatre - and we had a heck of a lot of fun doing it.

So proud of every single one of these performers - and as a bonus, Rachel took home the history win and WSSP the overall win!!! Peep those trophies :)

Most of all though, we showed a sold out Scottish Rite Theater exactly who we are.

Grateful for the support of the participating orgs and the entire Austin theatre community scene for coming together for this.

And a huge thank you to our photography sponsor AzulOx Visuals for capturing the night beautifully and giving us these shots to remember it by.

About last night.

What a dream it was to get a bunch of people who love Shakespeare in a room together to celebrate the thing we love.

Thank you so much to Austin Shakespeare and The Baron's Men for being willing to have some wholesome competition for the sake of joint fundraising.

Theatre funding is dire, and the fact that our audiences showed up in a huge way to meet new people and support four very deserving organizations is so absolutely appreciated.

Here is a little behind the scenes moment before we opened the house to come together as performers and creators 🖤

Team Walking Shadow got together tonight to rehearse for Saturday, and dang….what a crew. They’re going to blow your minds, make you laugh, make you cry, and maybe even make you p*e a little.

They’re talented as hell actors, but more importantly, they’re incredible humans. I could willingly waste my time with them any day, any reason.

How lucky are we to get to showcase who we are and what we love?
