Barry has been shaping steel into story since 1987 transforming shovels, bicycle forks, and found objects into striking bird and wildlife sculptures just blocks from his current studio.

Rooted in blacksmith techniques he studied in Antigua, Guatemala, his work bridges craft and curiosity—ranging from delicate 20” dragonflies to towering 9’ herons.

Lately, Barry is breaking the rules. His sculptures invite touch, interaction, and play—blurring the line between art and experience. While often layered with subtle political undertones, his pieces are ultimately created to live with you—grounding your home and garden in beauty, movement, and meaning.
His newest relief works draw inspiration from travels through Portugal, Italy, and Morocco—bringing a global texture to his evolving practice.

All of my work from 2000 to today has been created in my Austin studio, shaped from porcelain a fine English clay that tests both patience and skill. Throwing the “perfect” bowl has become a kind of beautiful obsession. This clay doesn’t forgive, and practice doesn’t always promise perfection.

As a painter, I’ve long been drawn to color — I’ve studied Delacroix’s color theories and lived inside palettes of light and pigment. But in ceramics, I find freedom in restraint. Black, white, and gray are my language here.

Each piece Mary Yznaga creates becomes a dialogue between material and language.
Working with steel, aluminum, and copper, her sculptures are transformed through patinas that create rich surfaces and unexpected outcomes. Her work explores a striking contrast—the strength of metal alongside the delicate softness of flower petals, a motif that appears again and again throughout her pieces.

In her newest body of work, Mary introduces tiny painted words written in multiple languages. In a world saturated with language—reading, writing, speaking, listening—two simple messages remain universal:
“I Love You”
“Thank You.”

These words, quietly woven into her work, remind us of what is essential, kind, and deeply human.
