Today Alternative Strings and Symphony students gave our one and only live performance of the year! We played Star Wars, Rhiannon, and 7 Nation Army alongside our Jazz Band friends at the lunches. What a great way to wrap up the semester, it was too much fun getting back to playing live music! Can't wait for more of that next year! Thanks Lamar Scottie Band for sharing the stage with us!

FOLO is having their last booster meeting of the year next Wednesday May 19th at 6pm in zoom. (See Ms. Berecek's email for the Zoom Link.)

We are looking for at least 2 parents of current 6th or 7th graders to take out the President and Secretary Roles. See Ms. Berecek's email for more info about the roles and for how to email our current president if you are interested.

I can't wait to get the orchestra back up and running with all our usual fun events, concerts, and fundraisers next year. But I CANNOT do it without YOU! Please consider stepping up to help the Lamar Orchestra!

Our Annual Instrument Discovery Day for Orchestra and Band Instruments is happening in-person this spring! Any 5th graders coming to Lamar next year are welcome to try out the Orchestra instruments on April 24th between 9am-1pm.

It is by appointment only, and we are following all CDC and campus guidelines to make this event safe for all! We hope to see you there!

Cold Weather Tips for Your Instrument:
- Keep your instrument in its case
- Keep it in the warmest room in your house (with you)
- Bring it with you to a warmer location if you can
- Keep it away from windows/doors
- Keep it out of the direct impact of a heater

So many amazing orchestra classes at Lamar! Here is one more class we are bringing back for next year: CHAMBER MUSIC!

Students can sign up for this class to play in smaller chamber groups coached by Ms. B or a coach from the Austin Chamber Music Center. We focus on more traditional orchestral repertoire and students get more individual instruction.

Highly recommended for orchestra majors! Make sure to choose Chamber Music on your choice sheet!

You know about our amazing orchestras, but did you also know that we offer a unique orchestra class for students to learn how to play jazz, blues, rock, and pop music too? It's the ALTERNATIVE STRINGS!

We also play gigs in the community and share our music at events! This class is open to any orchestra member with at least 1 year of experience. Watch this video to learn a bit about what we do. Then make sure you put Alternative Strings on your choice sheet for next year!
