The moment you decide to put your art out into the world with the intent of making money, you've started a business.

As creatives, we don't always like to think of it that way. But what if embracing the business side of your craft actually increased your chances of making a living from the music and art you create?

Running your project like a business doesn't mean sacrificing your creativity or spending all your time on administrative tasks. In fact, it can open the door to opportunities that help you create more, not less.

From tax advantages and funding opportunities to higher paying gigs, stronger partnerships, and long term sustainability, creative entrepreneurs have access to many of the same resources and tools as traditional businesses.

The difference? Our businesses are built around creativity, allowing us to build something uniquely our own.

Applications for our MBA Austin Fall Cohort are open for just 12 more days.

Apply by July 5th and take the next step toward building a sustainable creative career.

As creative entrepreneurs, we always have new ideas floating around in our heads. Add in all the hats you wear to run the business side of your music career and most of the time it leads to overwhelm, then burnout.

Not just business burnout but creative burnout too. All of a sudden you find yourself not enjoying the very reason you started a creative business in the first place, to create and to share your art with the world.

This is where the SMART goals framework can be one of your strongest allies. Setting tangible, realistic, and manageable goals can be the difference between burnout and long-term sustainability as both a creative and an entrepreneur.

Want to learn how to apply this to your music business? Apply for our MBA Austin Fall Cohort.

Applications are open until July 5th.

One week into the application phase and we are genuinely blown away!

The talent and dedication showing up in these applications from artists, songwriters, and music business professionals from right here in Austin has already exceeded our expectations and we're just getting started.

We've always believed the MBA is something truly special. But we also know our words only go so far. Real impact shows up in the lives and businesses of the people who actually go through the program.

So over the next few weeks, we're letting our 2025 pilot cohort graduates do the talking.

If you've been on the fence about applying, keep an eye on this page. What they have to say just might make your decision for you.

Applications for the Fall 2026 Austin cohort are open through July 5th. Link in bio.

We’re heading into week three of our Nashville cohort of the Music Business Accelerator in partnership with Underground Music Collective.

This week’s session focuses on one of the most overlooked but critical decisions a creative entrepreneur can make: how to structure your music business.

It’s easy to treat this as a quick checkbox, but the reality is that the structure you choose impacts everything from taxes and liability to how you get paid and grow. When this decision is made too quickly or without the right context, it can become costly and complicated to fix later.

We’ll be breaking down the different types of business entities, how each one functions, and the key factors to consider when deciding what structure best supports your career as a creative entrepreneur.

Tomorrow we officially kick off Week 1 of our Nashville Music Business Accelerator cohort in partnership with Underground Music Collective

This marks the first time we’ve taken our programming out of state, and if our onboarding session last week is any indication, it’s going to be an incredible 12 weeks ahead with this group.
We’re starting things off with the ever so subtle art of setting SMART goals.

As creative entrepreneurs, we’re constantly wearing multiple hats, and without a clear framework it can get overwhelming fast. Learning how to organize those priorities in a strategic way is often the difference between burnout and building something sustainable.

Excited to kick off another MBA journey with such a talented group. Let’s get to work.
