Shelly’s Keepsake Art

Shelly’s Keepsake Art The art itself is the gift, not the praise for it-that’s true mastery. Love the Journey!

2 AM. A cardinal appeared.

Late-night painting sessions have their own kind of magic…

The avian creatures are officially making their way in.

I’m enjoying every bit of this journey—picking it up with the same love each time I return to it.

This painting quietly sat in the background, patiently waiting for its turn. And somehow, it feels like the right time now.

What if your desk reminded you to never give up?

The imagination of a child, raw creativity and a little guidance then just wait to be amazed.

This study table transform from plain furniture into a daily reminder of faith, hope, and perseverance.

Transforming a ceramic tile into a magnet using decoupage technique and then adding a personal touch.
This piece has already made its way into a loving home.

Being vulnerable feels harder than sharing a masterpiece... but here we are.

What if we celebrated the messy learning just as much?
We scroll past masterpieces every day and hit ❤️without thinking.
As artists we carry a strange battle inside us, self-doubt.
For me, that has always been portraits.
And yet, the portraits I'm most proud of were born from grief. In those moments, emotion became louder than fear, and somehow my hands found a flow I'd been searching for ever since.
I've chased that feeling ever since.
Like the musk deer that runs through the forest searching for a fragrance, never realizing the scent comes from within itself.

Maybe that's what artistic growth is.
Chasing that feeling...

Let's normalize sharing our learning with the same pride as our achievements. Because that's where real growth begins.

What is the one thing you still struggle with?

Survival isn’t glamorous. It’s persistent. It’s adaptable. It’s choosing to face another day when the world around you has changed.

When kids are trusted, they surprise you.

People often underestimate what children are capable of because of their age. But creativity doesn’t follow age charts, it follows curiosity.
His imagination kept blooming with one idea after another, and by the end, painting finally matched the picture in his mind. The look on his face was priceless, so proud of himself as an artist.

That confidence, ownership, and joy are worth far more than a finished canvas. ❤️

And if you think this looks finished… think again. 😉 He already has a few more ideas to make this piece even more fun.

The graffiti letters are finally taking center stage.

Getting inspired by a simple yet powerful hanging boldly in my studio quote ‘You Only Fail When You Quit’.

Last one in the series:

Three hours later, he walked away with a masterpiece, and something even more valuable: confidence.

Honestly… who am I to stop it?

When creativity is flowing, the clock shouldn’t be the one making the decisions.

Children don’t need more templates. They need opportunities to trust their own imagination and then let them fly with it.

By the end, he already knew exactly where this painting would hang. ❤️⚽🎨

Sometimes the best thing an art teacher can do is step back and let creativity lead.

🎨 Part 2: Now comes the hardest decision… COLOR!

The sketches were done. The letters were ready.
There wasn’t a “right” palette—just thoughtful choices. Bright or bold? Warm or cool? High contrast or soft blends?

Making these creative decisions changes the same design instantly into a reflection of each artist’s personality.

👀 One more arrives tomorrow!
“Guess the third artist’s color palette before tomorrow’s reveal! 🎨
