Bolm Arts Presents: Ode to the Book

Books have always been an essential part of our lives, serving as a gateway to worlds beyond our imagination. They take us on adventures, introduce us to fascinating characters, and transport us to different times and places. In this exhibit, visitors will be able to experience the artistry of books through a variety of forms. It features a diverse collection of art including detailed illustrations, letterpress prints, book shrine sculptures, art books, and art made from book pages. Elevating them beyond their functional purpose, artists Stephen Dubov, Sandra C. Fernandez, Emily Mitchell, Kyle Schlesinger, Jennie Tudor Gray and Beckette Rivera have created their own unique tribute to books. Join us on an unforgettable journey that will awaken your senses and showcase the many ways in which books can inspire.

Bolm Arts Presents: S L O W F A D E

In this solo exhibition, “Slow Fade, ” Xander Rudd explores the essence of “fade” in his new mixed media paintings and the multi-dimensionality that lies within them. The paintings oscillate between abstraction and representation, blending organic forms with fabricated constructs. Within each piece, there exists a delicate interplay between painterly expression and graphic precision, inviting viewers to navigate the threshold between order and chaos. Gradients of color are central to the collection, dancing across the surface and serving as a conduit for transitioning between moments, realities, and states of mind.

A notable aspect of Rudd’s work lies in the interconnectedness of each piece. They inform, yet also echo one another, creating a visual dialogue that resonates throughout the exhibition. Through a harmonious blend of form and color, viewers are encouraged to immerse themselves in the intricacies of texture and pattern, while also embracing the tranquil expanses of atmospheric fades. In essence, this exhibition offers a contemplative experience, inviting audiences to tune into the nuances of perception and to explore the subtle beauty found within the journey of transformation.

Xander Rudd is a visual Artist from Tennessee currently working out of his studio in Austin, TX. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s in Two-Dimensional Arts and a concentration in Painting in 2016. Since graduating, traveling and exploring other cultures has been a deep passion of Xander’s, being a nomad on and off throughout the years and painting murals worldwide. His mixed media paintings draw from various experiences and impressions in his day-to-day life through an abstract lens. They vary from geometric-abstract and expressionism to surreal landscapes and influences of the natural world. His work attempts to display a real sense of movement and a transference of information.
