Our kidsActing Alum of the Month is Eric Meo! Eric spent 8 years here at kidsActing, and his favorite role during that time was Mr. Amos Hart (insert jazz hands here.) Since his days at kidsActing, Eric went on to graduate Texas State University with a BFA in Theater, lived in Chicago while attending the Second City conservatory, and just recently landed in Carrollton, TX with his wife to pursue voice acting for animation! He's a busy guy!
When we caught up with Eric recently, he mentioned how important his time at kidsActing was to him - how he made so many friends here, many of whom went on to be in his wedding. He also had this inspirational piece of advice to share with our students: "Always keep creativity in your life, even if it isn’t your career. You’ll always have a way to feed your soul." Thank you for the years of laughter and incredible performances, Eric!

Our today is our play production of It's A Wonderful Life - the Radio Play from 2014! And what an incredible show this was. Set in our black box, complete with an incredible Foley table, our students brought this beloved holiday show to life in the most unique way possible. What an awesome learning experience for our actors!

It's been so fun to see her personality and talent shine during our rehearsal process. Seeing her growth over the last year and a half has been amazing. Olivia has played such versatile roles like Chip (Beauty and the Beast), Taylor (High School Musical), and now Buddy in Elf - her range truly has no limit! I'm so proud of eagerness to learn and take risks when performing!"

Here at kidsActing, we LOVE our teachers! They put so much time and effort into making every class special and into loving the kiddos. We are beyond stoked to bring you this Alum of the Month for November... it's Harriet Butler, y'all! You need to keep your eye out for this one, because she is making waves all over the place, and got her start here at kidsActing!
Harriet is about to receive a BFA in Theatre with a concentration in Technical Production and an emphasis in Stage Management from Texas State University. That's right, kidsActing isn't just for performers - it's for students who are interested in stage management and technical theater as well! Harriet has had the opportunity to work on Summer Stocks in and out of the state of Texas, has stage managed on 11 Texas State University productions, and has had the opportunity to work with different theatre companies around Austin.
Harriet had this to say about her time with kidsActing: "Students should try a little bit of everything in theater - you may fall in love with something other than performing! Thanks to KA for helping me fall in love with what I want to do the rest of my life, and for giving me SO MANY friends I still speak to and see all of the time! Thank you for giving me training in a field I could not have gotten anywhere else before college. I love and miss you all soooooo much!"

I had the sublime pleasure of seeing my former kidsActing student Ethan Rogers perform as the student Courfeyrac the opening weekend of the new national tour of "Les Misérables" in Cleveland. He started at kidsActing when he was ten. He became my student playing a little cop in "Urinetown,"(he was shorter than me back then) and went on to play many roles, including Enjolras in "Les Misérables", Roger in "Rent", and Billy Flynn in "Chicago". I always tell my students that "hard work pays off." Ethan is proof that it's true. He has dedicated himself to working on his craft, studying, and practicing constantly, working towards his dream, always polite and respectful, eager to learn. And now he is a professional, touring nationally! Kudos to you Ethan!
And in other news, while at the show I became a groupie... not only of Ethan. At intermission I saw two elderly gentleman walking up the aisle. No one seemed to know who they were... but I did (I've directed the show 5x, it's a favorite). Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, the original writers of the musical, were walking towards me and I was like a giddy teenager meeting their favorite rock star! I spoke with them that first night and when I saw them the second night, I joked, "Oh, my two boyfriends again!" M. Schönberg said, "That is very French, you know." We had a good laugh, chatted, and then we took a picture.
What a great weekend it was! And sending thanks and love to Ethan's family, Michael, Patti Rogers, and Zoe. Having the support of family helps make dreams come true!

Congratulations to Azelie who is kidsActing's STAR of the month this November! Mr. Kel is Azelie's teacher in her Snow White play production class, and had so many amazing things to say about her:
"Azelie is new to kidsActing, and she's already made such an impression! She's always trying out new things on stage, adding anything she can to make her characters funny, compelling, and memorable. She's always willing to go the extra mile, which she showed when she agreed to sub in for another class that lost their King and Snoozy, meaning she now gets to be in twice the amount of shows! She's already made Snow White so much fun and I can't wait to see how she continues to grow as an actor!"

Congratulations to Robin who is our kidsActing STAR of the month! Robin was recently cast as Morticia in the Elite Ensemble's production of The Addams Family, and is currently enrolled in our Premier Players' play production of Alice in Wonderland, starting in just a couple of weeks. Miss Courtney nominated Robin for STAR of the month, and had this to say:
"Robin is such a rockstar. They work incredibly hard every week in class, spending their downtime working on lines and perfecting vocals, then working even harder on the stage to try out new things for their character while rehearsing. Robin always comes into class with a can-do attitude and is always striving to be a better version of themselves and their character in rehearsals week to week. I am so proud of Robin and all of their efforts, and could not be more excited to see them perform in both of these awesome shows this year!"

We are SO excited to feature Bekah Harmon as our Alum of the Month this October!!! Bekah was with kidsActing Studio for 4 years back in the early 2010's (has it been that long?!) and has made quite the career for herself ever since! Bekah went on to be a performer at Walt Disney World for 4 years, then on to cosmetology school and is now at Texas State University! She's quite an accomplished young lady, and we have loved watching her continue to perform on the side while she's at school or working.
Bekah recently shared this advice to our young performers: "Performing can be very scary at times but if you stick with it, it can be the most fun you will ever have. You will make friends that last a lifetime. Even when things feel hard, always remember you are surrounded by people who love and support you. Your time with KidsActing will give you memories and skills that will last a lifetime!"

Meet our amazing Lead Play Production Director, Kenzie Klem! Kenzie has been with us for just over a year, but it feels so much longer because she's become such an essential part of our kidsActing family! A currently-performing actor herself, Kenzie has a lot of experience and wisdom to share with our students as our Play Director, and is teaching them new and exciting lessons daily.
Kenzie recently shared some advice she has for our youth performers: "Let kidsActing be a place where you can step outside your comfort zone knowing full well that you're in a safe space! The theater is a place where you can be yourself, try new things, use your imagination, and where you are surrounded by other actors that you can grow beside. The community of actors here is truly extraordinary. All of the kids are so supportive of each other. I love when kids use acting as their outlet to be themselves and shine!"
We couldn't agree more. We love you, Miss Kenzie!!!
It’s … on a Monday! 🤣 And we wanna look back on this past spring’s production of High School Musical. Such a fun and challenging show! Our Advanced cast absolutely killed it on stage - their choreography and basketball skills were on point! So much fun… take us back! Go Wildcats!

Spider-Verse has officially landed at kidsActing! Join Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Peter Porker, and many of the other hilarious and fun characters from Into the Spider-Verse in a fun acting class!
