Our own Brent Baldwin opens Sunday’s Hiroya Tsukamoto concert (deets below)! He’ll premiere a short new guitar work, Ginch Ahoof.
A bit about Brent:
Brent Baldwin is an Austin-based conductor, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and composer. A long-time performer/producer of contemporary music, Brent’s direction of large-scale symphonic premieres by Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award-winning composers has landed him numerous awards and accolades. Dubbed as one of Austin’s Top 5 directors by the Austin Chronicle, his uniquely collaborative approach to music has drawn him into the creative orbits a dizzying array of such artists as Big Star, Roomful of Teeth, Roky Erickson, Wilco, Kronos, Alejandro Escovedo, Trail of Dead, REM, and many more.
Brent has been a featured artist for Fusebox Festival, SXSW, the Blanton Museum of Art, Levitation, Popkomm, and more, and has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including 1st place in the New England Classical Guitar Competition, 1st prize in the Granite State Composition Contest, and Best Choral Performance in the Austin Critics’ Table Awards.
