As it goes, more often than not, I finish these garments in the wrong season. I finished knitting this tank top in December and carefully folded it away until warmer weather. Here we are! 🩵

Grid post for my final session of my first class at . This was exactly what I needed to get the fires re-lit getting back into oil painting. I can highly recommend and her teaching skills. So much knowledge about chiaroscuro lighting and painting techniques and non-judgmental about where you’re at. Super comfortable space.

Now I’m so excited to get a regular practice going again. After decade+ of yearning but being trapped in the cycle of constantly moving from apartment to apartment and not having enough ventilation to safely paint, I’m so lucky to finally have the space to set up and practice. šŸŽØ

Low-key obsessed with the Pressed Flowers Bandanas over winter. Ended up making three of these with ideas of spring. Love how they turned out, and I even made matching cinches for the last two.

Hot damn. Knit my first pair of socks in one afternoon on my flatbed knitting machine. They had multiple holes to fix as I was figuring out the claw weight situation, and I lost yarn chicken on a toe. But they fit! My flabbers are gasted because hand knit socks would take me ~16hrs to make.

In-progress pic because of some romantic evening lighting. ā˜€ļø

Finished a knitted tee (in time for winter šŸ™„) and got yarn for a new tee. Even though the ā€œendless stockinette foreverā€ is boring to make, I know that I will wear the simple items more often with my existing wardrobe. Slow and sustainable living, am I right?

Okay, true to wishes, I’m going to post fiber art content here again. Social media is hard and stupid and it’s been difficult to mentally break out of what I ā€œshouldā€ be posting for what I’m actually doing with my time. So don’t mind me as I catch up on a year or so of mostly knitting content.

For those finding me recently, hi! I’m Ellen! I’m a multi-disciplinary artist depending on the season and the mood. I spent 11 years in Austin, TX and in the final years there started slinging my watercolors and printmaking at popup markets.

The last year and a half I picked up my life and moved across country to New York and started the wild journey of buying my first house and moving. Again. 🤪

Now that I’ve returned to a colder climate I’ve been knitting a lot more and it just feels natural to share whatever artistic endeavors I’m working on. Something something… ignoring algorithms and returning to an analog life as much as one can these days.

Anywho! This is the ā€œLike a cloudā€ cardigan by in Queensland Kathmandu wool/silk. It’s kind of meaningful because I started it in Austin and finished in New York. Anyone who knows me here knows that I practically live in this thing once it’s below 60°. Highly recommend. šŸ§¶āœŒļø
