We’re calling this tattoo “Lizzie’s Revenge.”
Lizzie Magie created The Landlords Game in 1903 where “the object of the game is not only to afford amusement to the players, but to illustrate to them how under the present or prevailing system of land tenure, the landlord has an advantage over other enterprises and also how the single tax would discourage land speculation.”
Pretty punk rock, right?
Well then along came Charles Darrow who had played The Landlords Game, decided to tweak the rules a bit and make the object of the game to be the one holding the monopoly and bankrupt other players - who then presented it to the Parker Brothers as his own creation.
Charles got rich while Lizzie died in obscurity. Until relatively recently! She’s finally started to get her due credit.
