Did my first test print on the new resin printer. Need to make sure it works before testing the scanner. I'm sculpting up something to scan in a few days. I'm not sure who to give credit for on these miniatures, but the rook is the product of Elegoo for test prints on the Saturn 3. I also use the clean and cure system they sell and it occured to me this is the best way to cure my other UV resin. Beats the flashlight method.

I have started the process of looking for a physical location. There's a lead that looks promising and apparently I'm just waiting for the lease to be drawn up. The photo is one I created to give an example of what ProtoHype Design should feel like, but is not a real place. Due to certain constraints, ProtoHype Design will be a home business for now and aspects such as gallery shows, workshops, and classes will be held at temporary commercial spaces (possibly in the same building as The Lost Pines Art Center, 1204 Chestnut St). Items for sale will be available at certain shops in Bastrop, TX on consignment, such as Cedar's Coppice at 709 Chestnut St. What can I say, Chestnut street has a lot of cool things! Found Fine Art, for example! There is a lot that I like about Bastrop which is why I chose it. It started with The Shiflett Brothers book which mentions that they get their bronze castings done at what is now Pyrology and a tour around town let me get the current vibe and it feels right. I remembered Bastrop in my youth, camping at Bastrop State Park, enjoying the small town vibe. I grew up in a city. My high-school years were spent in a very small town in Indiana which was a total culture shock for me and I handled myself badly. Those mistakes taught me what small town life is all about and I realized how much I love it. I have done everything to present myself appropriately for Bastrop and I intend on living out my life here.

Finished a project at Dinosaur Park - Bastrop, Texas with a tremendous Thank-You to Dan (owner) for this opportunity. His in-house artist Zack sculpted the horns and I did the paint job. Another Thank-you to Mike for various reasons and all the helpful employees that work there. Weather was against us and we went from an air-spray paint plan to a hand-painted job using brushes, rollers and sponges. I combined my experience of house painting with what I know about miniature painting techniques for a satisfying result. These pictures are from my phone in the shop under florescent light, so I will have to get some more photos after it is sealed and placed in it's outdoor display. It will make a big difference. The store part is awesome, so I'm including some photos. I tell ya, if you are a collector of dinosaur merch, this is the place to go!

Getting closer to the move date. I had some fun with sculpting more Rock Faces while hanging out at a drum circle. These were an exercise in Imagination rather than technique. My portable tool kit has some Apoxie Sculpt and a few dental tools. It was hot out, so it was curing very fast, however the results were fun.

The Official Website is up. More content soon as I prepare to move to my new workspace. I'm starting off very simple and bare-bones, so none of that flashy annoying slideshow that can distract you the way other websites do.I guess the designers think they need your attention by keeping everything in constant motion. That doesn't help people who get Vertigo!

ProtoHype Design LLC is a multidisciplinary studio creating custom designs for sculpture, props, masks, puppets, and jewelry prototypes. We also showcase founder and guest artist work, produce video content (YouTube shorts, indie films), and plan to open a creative social space for adults.

Now that ProtoHype Design is an LLC, I am setting up shop in Bastrop, hopefully by May this year. Why Bastrop? It's been on my radar ever since I saw this page from the book: "Clay Sculpting with the Shiflett Brothers." After finally finding the time to go there and feel the vibe, talk to residents and people in the art business, I realized this was a good fit. I'm not a stranger to Bastrop, I've visited many times on someone else's schedule, but never as someone considering a permanent move. I'll be doing my art and promoting other artists for 2 years and see where I land. The dream is to go from renting a space to owning my own full-fledged studio (abstract idea of what that actually means), and keep going until the lights go out.
