Last night wasn’t supposed to end this way.
As the clock struck midnight, Megan sat alone in the dimly lit kitchen, her trembling hands clutching her phone. Her husband, Chris, was still not home. He’d been late before, but tonight, something felt... different. The text messages she’d sent were left on “read.” Calls went straight to voicemail.

Her mind raced. Was he in trouble? Or worse—was there someone else?

But just as her paranoia hit a fever pitch, she heard it—the faint sound of tires crunching gravel in the driveway. Her heart stopped. She peered out the window, her breath fogging the glass.

Chris stepped out of the car... but he wasn’t alone.

Megan's stomach churned as she recognized the shadowy figure beside him. It wasn’t a woman, but it was someone she never expected to see again—a figure from her own past, someone she’d sworn she’d never speak of again.

Before she could even open the door, Chris turned and said something to the mysterious person that made her blood run cold:
