Paradox Players

Paradox Players Paradox Players is a community theater. We are folks who love theater - attending theater and creating theater. What do we do? How can you join? Where do we do it?

Paradox Players is a community-based theater company dedicated to bringing interesting, thought-provoking theater to the Austin community. As an outreach of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin, Paradox Players reflects the church’s mission to meet in community to nourish souls, transform lives and do justice. Mainstage Productions are full-length plays produced in February, June and

September. Scripts are generally chosen to provoke thought and discussion, as well as to lift the spirit. Participation in mainstage productions is open to anyone in the Austin community. Audition notices are posted in the Austin Chronicle and online at the ACoT /AUSTIX/TexasPerforms site. Readers' Theater meets to read plays aloud and discuss them. Participation is open to all, no experience required. Occasionally Readers' Theater will rehearse and produce a staged reading for an invited audience. Because we are a community theater, there are always many roles to fill - both on and off the stage. The First UU church community lends strong support to productions, reliably providing at least 40 volunteers to fill crew and front-of-house positions, but there is also a need for more volunteers. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Barbara Romano, to let her know your interests so she can add your name to the list of volunteers we contact periodically. We are always interested in hearing from anyone who enjoys writing, acting, directing, and working backstage or on the production end of plays. Barbara can be contacted at [email protected]. Both our Mainstage Productions and our Readers' Theater are housed at Howson Hall in the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin at 4700 Grover, in North Central Austin. Join us! You'll be happy you did!!
