Such an amazing research this is...!

The ability to control crystallization, and therefore the physical properties of the material, with the application of light is potentially transformative for wearable electronics or actuators in soft robotics.

When the temperature is just right, below about 9 to 12 degrees Fahrenheit, according to Live Science, the bubbles will freeze.

If you blow a soap bubble when the temperature is around -5 °F to 0 °F the water between the soap layers begins to form crystals, which move around. As crystals form at the colder bottom of the soap bubble, heat is released as water changes from a liquid to its solid state, ice. The warmer water at the bottom of the bubble now has a lower surface tension, causing that water to move towards the top, carrying ice crystals with it. The crystals continue to dance and move until the whole bubble is frozen.

Itacolumite is a naturally occurring porous, yellow sandstone that is flexible when cut into relatively thin slabs. At one time it was ascribed to the presence of thin scales of mica which were believed to permit a certain amount of motion between adjacent grains of quartz. More probably, however, it is due to the porous character of the rock together with the interlocking junctions between the individual quartz sand grains. The porosity allows interstitial movement, while the hinge-like joints by which the particles are connected hold them together in spite of the displacement.

The s*x of sea turtles, like many other turtles, is determined by the temperature in the nest. Cooler incubation temperatures produce male hatchlings and warmer incubation temperatures produce female hatchlings. Temperatures that fluctuate between the two extremes will produce a mix of male and female hatchlings.

They get their name due to the fact they only bloom at night. Gardeners will often plant these flowers alongside morning glories as the two not only complement each other, but they are in actual fact related. They are best planted close to a wall or trellis as they are fast-climbing plants and can grow up to ten feet in size.

The photo-related feat was accomplished by a team at Australia's Griffith University in 2012. Using an electrical field to suspend a charged atom in a vacuum chamber, the team shot a laser beam at the atom and took a photo of the shadow it produced. While atoms have been photographed before, their shadows have not, making this accomplishment unprecedented.

Chau Smith was always an avid runner, and, in 2017, she decided that for her 70th birthday, she would complete seven marathons in one week across all of the continents. Traveling made it challenging—for example, Smith made the race in Egypt just minutes before the start because her plane to Cairo was delayed. But despite the obstacles, she completed her goal.
From January 25 to 31, 2017, Smith ran marathons in Perth, Australia; Singapore; Cairo, Egypt; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Garden City, New York; Punta Arenas, Chile; and King George Island, Antarctica. It’s part of a challenge called Triple 7 Quest, operated by Marathon Adventures, which planned the itinerary and logistics.
Of the eight people who joined the quest, six ran full marathons, and of those six, Smith was the oldest.

Radiations include particles that behave like an atomic-size cannonball. The particles alter anything that they pass through. It poses a risk to Astronauts’ health since they are exposed to these radiations for a long period of time. Radiations are measured in Milli-Sievert (mSV). Astronauts on space exploration are exposed to radiations anywhere between 50-2,000 mSV. To give perspective, 1 mSV of radiation is equal to having three chest X-rays. Therefore, the exposure that astronauts experience is anywhere between 150-6,000 chest X-rays.

Hot water and cold water sound slightly different when being poured. The heat changes the thickness, or viscosity, of the water, which changes the pitch of the sound it makes when it's poured. What we feel as heat comes from the molecules of the water moving faster. Cold water is thicker and therefore makes a slightly higher-pitched sound.

It protects cells and tissues, even as the critter’s heart, brain and bloodstream stop. The frogs can do it because special microbes in their guts recycle the urea, said a study in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

Unlike rodents, who have a true one way digestive system because of the weak muscular structure in their stomach and diaphragm, rabbits cannot vomit because of a thick and strong sphincter.
The sphincter (found in most mammals) blocks the passage between the esophagus and the stomach so that stomach juice doesn’t splash up the esophagus. The difference in rabbits is that this muscle is particularly strong, and it is surrounded by a fold of mucous membrane. It effectively creates a one-way plug between the rabbit’s stomach and throat. It lets food and liquid in, but then acts like a cork on a bottle, not let anything back up the esophagus and preventing the rabbit from vomiting.
