I highly recommend this book as a way to bring all the different issues we are facing into a comprehensible and holistic view. It has graphics, charts, and other illustrations to help readers visualize the content. It gives recommendations for individuals and governments. Understanding the details and big picture make it easier to see that those of us who have what we need, should be making changes in our habits to lessen the impact of our consumption.

Artist Highlight: The seventeenth video in “TUNE in to GREEN – Minor Chord II” is by Elin Johnston of Belfast, Northern Ireland. “Memoria” is a pilgrimage of mind and body: memory, place, and loss, are evoked in a contemplative ode of remembrance, expressing the sense of presence and emotion that remains imbued and embedded within particular conjunctions of time, location, and lived experience.
As a poetry film the work also reflects upon how, although time is without form, its true measure slips away, simultaneously imperceptible, indeterminate, beyond reach.

Artist Highlight: The sixteenth video in “TUNE in to GREEN – Minor Chord II” is by Alexandre Ries of Lille, France. Filmed in Finland, the title of his short, “Puu O)))”, is named after the Finnish word for tree followed by characters symbolizing a concentric circle and waves on water. With sound by Pierre Denjean, the experimental audio and imagery are synced perfectly in order to produce synesthesia in the viewer.

Artist Highlight: The twelfth video in “TUNE in to GREEN – Minor Chord II” is by Camila Perales of La Paz, Bolivia. Her film “Ofrenda” (Offering), addresses the notion of death in ancient Andean sacrificial rituals. Death is not fear, but life and is part of the community cycle. This work is part of the Andean Death Trilogy, in which the Aymara and Bolivian cultures is represented from the image of the child Jesus, a religious figure that synthesizes syncretism and the adaptation of local myths in the Catholic religion as a strategy of survival in Aymara culture. Artist Highlight: The eleventh video in “TUNE in to GREEN – Minor Chord II” is by Carles Pamies of Barcelona, Spain. His experimental animation “NATURE MORTE Vanites 01” (Still Life, Vanity 01) is accompanied by this dark poem reminding us of the vanity in earthly delights and striving:

PAIN
intimate death
the vulnerable body
the cyclical journey
breathing deep and sad
a destiny in eclipse
and in your daily life
the collapse of your faith
the tremulous writing
the abandoned stroke
