The Nile Ethiopian Restaurant

My good friend Barbara Shannon-Bannister and I go out to lunch once a month to catch up on all things related to Aurora.

Barbara had a distinguished 36-year career working for the city of Aurora, founded the Aurora Chapter of the NAACP, and, until recently, had served as a member of the city’s Civil Service Commission.

Every month, we try a new restaurant in Aurora and this month, we decided to go to the Nile Ethiopian Restaurant, located at 1951 S. Havana Street, in Aurora.

We shared the Lamb Tibs Awaze, which is cubed lamb sautéed with onion, tomatoes, rosemary, jalapeño peppers, and spicy awaze sauce. We also ordered the Vegetarian Combo. All of their main dishes are served with injera, a spongy bread, that you also use to pick up the food with. Their food is amazing.
