Youth and professional concerts for the Fox Valley Illinois region

The Fox Valley Academy of Music Performance enriches the life of Chicago's far western suburbs through the celebration of symphonic music. The Academy consists of 3 youth programs:
Access to Music, Youth Strings, & the full Academy Orchestra

At the Academy, music students enjoy a variety of musical opportunities, learn challenging repertoire, develop new friendships, and advance to higher levels

of musical excellence. The Philharmonic is a professional orchestra providing phenomenal concerts that are free and open to the public. The Philharmonic concerts include guest artists from around the globe, an annual "Do It Yourself" 'Messiah', and energetic Children's Concerts as part of their programs. The Fox Valley Philharmonic orchestra is pleased to announce auditions for for the upcoming 2nd half of their current 2018-19 concert season. Initial auditions will be held in the gym of the Eden Supportive Living facility (311 S. Lincolnway, in North Aurora) on Sunday, January 13th, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Additional opportunities for auditioning are available by appointment.

The Philharmonic has had a very successful season so far this year this year and is in the process of establishing itself as a strong “community orchestra” in the Fox Valley area. The orchestra (directed by Stephen Thurlow) is closely associated with the new Aurora Community Chorale (directed by Kristin Young) and is collaborating with this extremely talented group of singers for half of its concerts this year.

Openings for the orchestra are available for 2nd oboe, 2nd bassoon, 2nd and third trumpet, 4th horn, and all strings (violin, viola, cello, string bass). Musicians interested in auditioning should contact Stephen Thurlow at: [email protected] for information and appointments.

Join us on Sunday for our annual Children's Concert! Admission is free and all music is child friendly. Concert starts at 3pm and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aurora.

The annual Philharmonic Orchestra Children's Concert is just over one week away!!! On Sunday February 19, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aurora. Bring the whole family to this kid-friendly event featuring soloists, kid conducting, and the always popular instrument petting zoo! Concert starts at 3pm and is FREE (donations gratefully accepted).
