As August draws to a close and September soon begins, we wanted to highlight a few works included in our exhibition “Dressed to Thrill: Sculpture by John Petrey”, that concludes today.

In addition, we wanted to illustrate how we would style these dynamic sculptures, which were crafted from everyday materials and found objects, with fall shoes from our friends at Shoes at Surrey!

Atlanta-based vocalist, songwriter, and actress Gwen Hughes will sing fresh takes on jazz, soul, and pop favorites, as well as original tunes.

The captivating Cameron Silver is a global, luxury-brand consultant and author who is working on his third book. The board and staff of the Morris Museum of Art note with sadness the passing of a respected colleague and friend, Nancy J. Glaser, the much-honored director of the Augusta Museum of History. For many years, her knowledgeable, energetic leadership of a great local institution and her successful transformation of it into a true community resource have been a boon to Augusta and a model for museums of like type everywhere. The gift of her friendship was valued by many, and Augusta was made a better place by her presence. Her like will not pass this way again. 🕊️

Alex Foltz will paint a quick portrait as he chats about his work. He will choose a subject from the audience and demonstrate his amazing talent as we watch the finished image emerge.

Foltz works in oils, using the alla prima, or wet-on-wet, technique.

A reception with the artist, featuring some of his work, follows. FREE!
