A Belfast woman who has built a successful life in Florida has revealed how her Irish upbringing gave her the confidence to take a chance on the American dream.

Sarah Costello Hyland moved to the Sunshine State almost 15 years ago after accepting a contract as a professional Irish dancer, believing she would only stay for a year.

Instead, she fell in love with life in Orlando and has since married her husband Scott, established a thriving Irish dance academy and welcomed a daughter.

The Irish Dance Summer Camp at Sarah Costello Irish Dance Academy GA just ended—and the energy didn’t leave with it. 💥

Dancers walked in as campers and walked out with sharper steps, stronger confidence, and a real feel for the rhythm, culture, and artistry of Irish dance.

Now it’s time to keep that momentum going.

Day 2 at the Alter Ego Feis was another incredible one for Alina Fry! 🍀✨

🏆 Preliminary Championship Results:
🥉 3rd – Hornpipe
4️⃣ 4th – Reel
🥈 Overall Championship – 2nd Place

🎶 Specialty Dances:
🥉 Traditional Set (Blackbird) 3rd Place
🥉 Treble Reel 3rd Place

And in true Alter Ego Feis fashion… Alina’s alter ego was Elvis! 🎸⚡

Even funnier? Our hotel had a giant picture of Elvis and the Augusta National Golf Club — which felt pretty fitting for a dancer representing Augusta all weekend long! 😂💚

And maybe the best part of all… the memories made with dance friends along the way. 💕
Because dance friends really do make the best friends. ☘️✨

Huge congratulations to SCIDA-GA dancer Alina Fry on an incredible start to the weekend at the Orlando Feis! 🍀🏆

Competing in the U14 Preliminary Championship, Alina earned:

🥉 3rd Place – Hornpipe
🥈 2nd Place – Reel
🥈 Overall Championship – 2nd Place

And to top it all off…
🥇 1st Place in Traditional Set Dance!

We’re very grateful to Augusta Youth School of Dance for their generosity and hospitality in welcoming us into their space. 💚
