The Greater Augusta Arts Council published a new reflection October 8 from intern Faith Braithwaite about this year's Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival. Writing about the festival's move to the fairgrounds, Braithwaite described the venue's historical displays, shade and rain protection, volunteer operations, and participation by Augusta University's art department. She characterized the experience positively while acknowledging the weather challenges.

Why it matters: This participant's perspective adds firsthand evidence to the ongoing conversation about how the new site functions for volunteers, artists, and visitors. Those observations are worth collecting alongside attendance, vendor, accessibility, and financial data.

I’m really glad to see Augusta Recreation and Parks posting more consistent content on social. For the past year, the most they've posted has been 2-3 times per week. Now, the department hits that mark daily. This is on par for a community the size of Augusta-Richmond County.

This is the kind of communication the summer series patrons have been asking for all along - not perfection, just connection (& a little consideration). When people make plans around a community event, they want to know what’s happening, where to go, what to expect, and whether anything has changed.

That kind of information builds trust.

It also reminds us that live music in public spaces is about more than the performance. It is about the full experience: how people are invited, how they are welcomed, how they are updated, and how they feel before they ever arrive.

This is definitely a positive step. More frequent updates help patrons stay engaged, help artists and partners feel supported, and help the community feel like someone is paying attention.

That matters. And that's our commitment for Candlelight Jazz - South and other Growing Augusta activations.

Candlelight (Jazz & Music) has always had a special place in the hearts of many Augusta residents. Keeping people informed is one way to honor that relationship and keep the series strong.

I’m grateful to see the shift, and I hope it continues.
