Labor Day weekend wasn’t just for relaxing around here! 😏🔨

I put together this 8’ x 2’ quilt ladder, with a little help from the hubs—and I’m pretty darn happy with how it turned out! ❤️ It’s the perfect way to display some of my favorite quilts while adding a little rustic charm to the space.

Apparently, when I’m not behind the sewing machine, you’ll find me playing with power tools. 😂🪵

🍦 Homemade Ice Cream Day in the Smashtique Kitchen! 🍦

Today’s project has absolutely nothing to do with quilts… but EVERYTHING to do with making something sweet! 😋

We’re churning up a good old-fashioned batch of homemade ice cream the way Grandma used to make it — with plenty of cream, whole-milk, eggs, vanilla, sugar, ice and a whole lotta rock salt! 🥛🥚🍨

And yes… that giant old-fashioned wooden ice cream maker is getting put to WORK today! 💪😂

There’s just something about homemade ice cream on a summer day that hits different. ❤️🍦

So while the sewing machine is taking a little break, the Smashtique kitchen is churning! 😉

Now the BIG question… who’s ready for a bowl?! 🍨😋

Welp… the hay bales appear to be on their way out. 🌾🍂

Here in Kansas, that’s always one of the first signs that summer is winding down and fall is sneaking in.

I know I’ve been a little quiet lately. My new job has me pretty well wiped out by the time I get home each day, so my second Christmas quilt has been moving a little slower than I’d hoped. 🎄🧵

Don’t worry though—it’s still coming! I’m just finding my new routine, one day at a time. Thanks for sticking with me while I balance work and quilting. I promise there will be more fabric, more stitches, and another Christmas finish before long. ❤️
