One thing I’ve learned through building organizations, applying for funding, and navigating community partnerships is that access matters — but understanding the process matters just as much.

So many small businesses, nonprofits, and service providers are capable of doing excellent work, but they don’t always know where to find opportunities or how to position themselves to win them.

That’s why I’m excited to help promote Mission United’s final cohort session with GovConNOW: Bid & Win Workshop.

This is not just a sit-and-listen workshop. It’s a hands-on session designed to help participants understand where contracts are, how to read the opportunity, and how to build a clear next-step plan.

💚 ONE YEAR. ONE VISION. COUNTLESS MEMORIES. 💚

As we enter the final week of MelodiousOne Educational Institute's first full school year, we find ourselves reflecting on just how far we've come.

This year, our students learned, created, performed, explored, served, and grew. Together, we celebrated achievements, embraced challenges, built friendships, and lived out our core values of Resilience, Excellence, Achievement, Community, and Honesty.

This week, our students will participate in Tropical Trek Vacation Bible School at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with our older students serving as volunteer helpers and leaders. Friday will mark our final Field Study Friday of the school year, closing out a year filled with discovery and adventure.

To our students, families, volunteers, community partners, and supporters—thank you for believing in the vision and helping us build something special.

Year One is coming to a close, but the journey is just beginning.

Have a safe, restful, and restorative summer. We can't wait to see what Year Two has in store. ✨

🎶 Young Winds Workshop begins TODAY! 🎶

We are excited to welcome students to the 2nd Annual Young Winds Workshop, where young musicians begin their journey through hands-on instruction, instrument access, and a supportive camp experience.

This year, we are honored to welcome guest musician Marquis Hare, saxophonist, educator, composer, and arranger. Students will have the opportunity to perform with him during our culminating recital on Friday, June 5 at 1:00 PM. The recital is open to the public!

What an incredible journey it has been.

Over the next two weeks, we'll celebrate student growth, welcome Young Winds Workshop participants, recognize our Honors Day and Kindergarten graduates, host guest artist Marquis Hare, complete final PEP Talks, and prepare for our end-of-year family field trip.

As we approach the finish line, we are filled with gratitude for every student, family, volunteer, partner, and supporter who has helped make this year possible.

Two weeks until the 2nd Annual Young Winds Workshop! 🎶

From first notes to a final performance, this 5-day camp gives beginner musicians a meaningful start in band. Students will receive hands-on instruction, instrument access, light refreshments, and the chance to grow in confidence through music.

We are especially excited to welcome guest artist Marquis Hare this year. Our students will perform with him during the culminating recital on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 1:00 PM — and the recital is open to the public!

🎨🎭🎶 BIG news for Georgia students and fine arts education!

Yesterday, Governor Kemp signed SB 556 into law, expanding HOPE Scholarship rigor recognition to include qualifying advanced fine arts coursework in dance, music, theatre, and visual art.

This legislation supports students pursuing rigorous fine arts pathways while strengthening connections to Georgia’s growing creative industries. Thank you to the educators whose feedback helped inspire this effort and to our state leaders for supporting opportunities that prepare students for life.

✨ Growth looks different for every learner — and this week at MEI, we’re celebrating growth in many forms. 💚

This week, our students will complete their annual MAP Growth Reading and Math Assessments as part of our Georgia Promise Scholarship requirements.

📖 Reading Assessment — Monday, May 18
➗ Math Assessment — Wednesday, May 20

MAP Growth is an adaptive assessment that grows with students and adjusts to their instructional level. Students are expected to encounter questions they may not yet know how to answer — that means the assessment is working correctly!

We encourage our students to:
✔ Take their time
✔ Think critically
✔ Eliminate incorrect answers
✔ Take their best guess

We are also still celebrating last week’s incredible science projects! 🌋🍰☁️ From volcanoes to “cake cells” and cloud studies, students explored science through creativity, research, and presentation.

🌍 Friday will be another Field Study Friday, and our students will continue learning through real-world community experiences.
