The Fort Dinner Theatre-Legacy Page Welcome to the official The Fort Dinner Theatre - Legacy Page page! Most of our theatre performances are done in dinner theatre format.

The Presidential Dinner Theatre performances and auditions are open to the entire community! Our professionally staffed theatre program produces a full season of live theatrical productions to include comedy, drama, musicals, children’s theatre, concerts and special events. We receive enthusiastic support from the community, and usually play to capacity audiences. Presidential Dinner Theatre is the recipient of the Army Entertainment Program’s prestigious Irving Berlin Award for programming excellence, and has received multiple top honors in the Best Show, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Set Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Costume, categories of the Army Festival of the Performing Arts. Our productions are staffed by a wide variety of participants from the Fort Eisenhower and Augusta communities. We are a wide-open group. It’s easy to become involved, and you do not have to be military to be a part of, or attend one of our shows. Since it takes a lot of manpower to produce a theatrical season, we are always looking for new volunteers who want to participate as performers or backstage. No previous experience is required. Our staff members will teach you what you need to know. So, whether you’re young, or young at heart, military or civilian, if you have the interest, call 706-793-8552, contact us through FB or our website, or stop by the Performing Arts Center, Building 32100 on 3rd Avenue. There’s no question about it… we want YOU to be a part of our program!

Just came across this photo from our earliest days in the original 100 seat Dinner Theatre. Circa 1979 ?
Me with my Mentor/ Best Friend, Claude Aston, Jr., who created the Fort Gordon Music and Theatre Program in the mid -60s.

I met him when I was a Soldier here in 1969. While out for a walk, I was surprised to see a Performing Arts Center around the corner from my BOQ.

This young 2LT ventured inside, and his life changed forever that day. I found a community of Soldiers, Family Members, and also participants from downtown, who shared common interests and a love of theatre. It was wonderful- such a special opportunity for me, and so many other folks from military and civilian life. With participants and audience from off post and on, it brought our communities closer together.

Post Active Duty- After a stint here, and a few years working with my Dad in CA, Claude called me in LA to chat about the possibility of starting a Dinner Theatre back at Ft Gordon.
I was interested!

Note: Paint clothes were my daily uniform back then.

Remembering Richard Justice in “The Mystery of Irma Vep.” This salty curmudgeon was just one of the 12 roles he played in that show. So talented, and so much fun to be on stage with. ❤️

“Is it a party?”
From our first production of “Noises Off”, in the original dinner theatre. The ceilings were so low, we had to fold down the hinged second floor set walls in order to revolve the set!
Such a fun and exciting show!

One of our wonderful “Little Shop of Horrors” productions.

Back in the days of “Great Fun. Great Food. Great Show,” when we had the Applause section of the Chronicle to help us get the word out.

Back in the mid 80’s, during a run of “Dracula”, we lost our Renfield, the Vampire’s insane bug eating devotee.

This talented young actress took over the insanity of that role,
devouring those prop insects with great relish. Frightening!
