🎉 KAGC 2026 성황리에 마무리! 🎉

지난 5월 6일 개최된 KAGC(Korean American Grassroots Conference)가 많은 분들의 관심과 참여 속에 성공적으로 마무리되었습니다.

이번 컨퍼런스에서는 교육자, 지역사회 리더, 학생들이 함께 모여 글로벌 교육과 문화 교류, 리더십에 대해 논의하며 서로의 경험과 아이디어를 나누는 의미 있는 시간을 가졌습니다.

특히 에세이 콘테스트를 통해 선발된 학생들이 직접 무대에 올라 자신의 경험과 생각을 발표하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌습니다. 학생들은 글로벌 시민의식, 문화적 다양성, 그리고 미래 리더십에 대한 자신만의 시각을 공유하며 참석자들에게 깊은 인상을 남겼습니다.

행사를 위해 함께해 주신 모든 연사, 참가자, 학생 발표자, 자원봉사자 및 후원자 여러분께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 여러분의 열정과 참여 덕분에 KAGC 2026이 더욱 뜻깊고 성공적인 행사로 마무리될 수 있었습니다.

On May 6, Korea Corner at Auburn University successfully hosted the Korean-American Grassroots Conference (KAGC) 2026.

The conference brought together educators, community leaders, and students to engage in meaningful discussions on global education, cultural exchange, and leadership. Participants shared their experiences and perspectives, creating valuable opportunities for learning and connection.

A special highlight of this year’s conference was the participation of students selected through the KAGC Essay Contest. These outstanding students took the stage to share their personal experiences, ideas, and reflections on global citizenship, cultural diversity, and future leadership. Their presentations left a lasting impression on attendees and showcased the talent and potential of the next generation of leaders.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all speakers, participants, student presenters, volunteers, and supporters who made this event possible. Your enthusiasm and dedication helped make KAGC 2026 a truly meaningful and successful event.

🥢 Korean Cuisine 101 successfully wrapped up its final session! 🇰🇷✨

For our last session, participants experienced authentic Korean BBQ culture together at a local Korean restaurant ( ) From grilling meat at the table to sharing banchan and learning Korean dining etiquette, everyone had the chance to enjoy a real Korean dining experience! 🍖🥬

After lunch, we visited a local K-Market to explore a variety of Korean snacks, ingredients, drinks, and traditional foods. 🛒🍜

Thank you to everyone who joined us over the past three weeks and made this program so meaningful and enjoyable. We hope this experience helped you connect more deeply with Korean food, culture, and community.

🥢 Korean Cuisine 101 마지막 세션이 성공적으로 마무리되었습니다! 🇰🇷✨

마지막 세션애서는 참가자들과 함께 지역 한식당( 진짜 한국 바비큐 문화를 직접 체험하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 🍖🥬 테이블에서 함께 고기를 굽고, 다양한 반찬을 나누어 먹으며 한국의 식사 예절과 음식 문화를 자연스럽게 경험할 수 있었습니다.

식사 후에는 다 함께 한국 마켓( K-market 어번) 방문해 다양한 한국 식재료, 과자, 음료, 전통 식품들을 함께 둘러보며 한국 음식 문화에 대한 이해를 더욱 넓히는 시간도 가졌습니다. 🛒🍜

지난 3주 동안 함께해 주신 모든 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 이번 프로그램이 한국 음식과 문화, 그리고 사람을 연결하는 뜻깊은 경험이 되었기를 바랍니다. 💙

Our second session of Korea Cuisine 101 was successfully completed! 🇰🇷🍳

Held in the Food Lab at Rane Culinary Science Center, this hands-on cooking session gave participants the opportunity to experience Korean cuisine by making two of Korea’s most beloved dishes — bibimbap and japchae.

Under the guidance of instructor Junghyeon Jun,participants worked through every step of the cooking process together, from preparing ingredients to plating their own dishes. Thanks to the support of three wonderful volunteers, the class ran smoothly and everyone was able to fully enjoy the experience.

After cooking, participants gathered to enjoy the dishes they had made and finished the session with hotteok, one of Korea’s favorite street-food desserts. 😊

To make the day even more special, Aubie made a surprise visit to cheer on participants and take photos together! 🧡💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us to learn about and experience Korean food and culture.
We hope you’ll also look forward to our final session next Wednesday! 🇰🇷✨

Korea Cuisine 101 두 번째 세션이 성공적으로 마무리되었습니다! 🇰🇷🍳

이번 세션은 Rane Culinary Science Center Food Lab에서 진행되었으며, 참가자들이 직접 한국 음식을 만들어보는 핸즈온 쿠킹 클래스로 운영되었습니다. 참가자들은 한국의 대표 음식인 비빔밥과 잡채를 함께 만들며 한국 음식 문화를 더욱 가까이 경험할 수 있었습니다.

전정현 강사님의 지도 아래 참가자들은 재료를 손질하고 조리하는 모든 과정을 함께하며 자신만의 한국 요리를 완성했습니다. 또한 세 분의 자원봉사자분들께서 함께 도와주신 덕분에 프로그램이 더욱 원활하게 진행될 수 있었습니다.

요리가 끝난 후에는 직접 만든 음식을 함께 시식하고, 한국의 대표 길거리 간식인 호떡을 디저트로 즐기며 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다. 😊

특히 이날은 Aubie 가 깜짝 방문해 참가자들을 응원하고 함께 사진도 찍으며 더욱 특별한 추억을 만들어 주었습니다! 🧡💙

📍 Korean Cuisine 101 – Session 1 Recap

Our first session of Korean Cuisine 101 was successfully completed! 👏

We had 10 enthusiastic participants, and the session was led by Dr. Sungeun Cho from Auburn University.

In this session, participants learned about the culture and significance of Korean cuisine, as well as its essential ingredients and cooking methods. They also had the opportunity to explore jang (Korean sauces such as doenjang, gochujang, and ganjang) by experiencing their unique aromas and flavors firsthand.

It was especially impressive to see everyone actively engaged and eager to learn more about Korean food and culture.

Last week’s Korean 2 class at Opelika Highschool highlights:

Students created their own hero characters and practiced contrast expressions such as “small but strong” (-지만).

They also reviewed location expressions by designing survival maps based on a scenario where zombies appeared at school.

Finally, students planned K-beauty products for skin tired from battling zombies, expressing skin types, ingredients, and effects in Korean.

It was a meaningful class that combined language learning with creativity.

학생들은 히어로가 되어 각자의 캐릭터를 만들고,“작지만 강해요!”와 같은 대조 표현(-지만)을 연습하였습니다.

또한, 학교에 좀비가 나타난 상황을 설정하여서바이벌 맵을 제작하며 위치 표현을 복습하였습니다.

Korean 2 classes at Opelika High School are taught in fun and engaging ways through a variety of activities 🇰🇷✨

In a secondhand marketplace activity, students described items, set prices, and practiced real-life expressions like “That’s too expensive” and “Can you lower the price?”

They also learned directions through a blindfold game, using phrases like “Go straight” and “Turn left” 🧭

It was a meaningful and fun experience, thanks to the students’ enthusiasm.
