The Pennsylvania Skill Games industry has reached a significant turning point following the recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision regarding skill games.
While we are disappointed by the Court’s decision to reverse prior rulings that many operators, location owners, and small businesses have relied upon for years, we respect the judicial process and will continue to operate within the law.
Importantly, the Court recognized that determining public policy for Pennsylvania is the responsibility of our elected lawmakers. The Court’s decision included a 120-day stay, providing the General Assembly with an opportunity to address the future of skill games through the legislative process.
For decades, AB Novelty has partnered with small businesses, restaurants, taverns, social clubs, veterans’ organizations, and volunteer fire companies throughout Pennsylvania.
We have seen firsthand how skill games help businesses keep their doors open, support local jobs, and provide important revenue to community organizations.
This issue extends far beyond our industry.
Thousands of Pennsylvania small businesses, nonprofit organizations, volunteer fire departments, fraternal clubs, veterans’ organizations, and family-owned businesses depend on the revenue generated by skill games.
As we move forward, our focus remains on supporting our customers, location partners, and communities.
We are encouraged that legislative leaders have already expressed interest in discussing gaming reform and potential solutions for the future of skill games in Pennsylvania.
We believe there is an opportunity to create a fair and responsible solution that protects Pennsylvania businesses while providing appropriate oversight and regulation.
During the Court’s 120-day stay, we will continue working with industry partners, lawmakers, and stakeholders to advocate for a solution that recognizes the important role skill games play in communities across Pennsylvania.
We also encourage our customers and community partners to contact their state representatives and senators and share how this decision could affect their businesses, employees, and livelihoods.
Your voice matters, and lawmakers need to hear directly from the people and organizations affected by this decision.

🚨 PENNSYLVANIA SMALL BUSINESSES & VETERANS’ GROUPS UNDER ATTACK! 🚨

Senator Chris Gebhard’s new bill is a direct threat to our local bars, restaurants, VFWs, American Legions, and volunteer fire companies. Disguised as a “compromise,” it slaps a crushing 35%+ tax on skill games—revenue these community pillars rely on to keep their doors open, create jobs, and fund critical equipment.

This isn’t fair. It’s a tax hike that could force family-owned businesses to close and leave veterans’ groups and fire departments scrambling. The bill strips away income many have counted on for nearly a decade and hands oversight to the PA Gaming Control Board with regulations tougher than those for casinos—favoring out-of-state casino owners over PA’s own small businesses.

Wednesday Dart Announcement
I very much appreciate everyone’s efforts to make up the matches that were postponed due to icy weather or suspended when the Arachnid server went down several weeks ago. I do know that many teams, like my own, have been playing make up matches on Sundays and even playing double headers on Wednesday nights. Not everyone has the luxury of doing that. Some among us with health issues that are undergoing treatments in Philadelphia, Hershey or Allentown just can’t squeeze multiple matches into a short time period. With that being said, when all the unplayed matches have been made up, we will begin the playoffs. If your team is all caught up, THANK YOU.
If some of you want to play exhibitions or just practice on Wednesdays to stay sharp, go for it. All teams and sponsors paid the same amount of money to play their entire schedule and that is what we are going to do.

I have FINALLY printed the remaining checks for the 2024 Summer Dart League. The checks will be dropped off at the location where you shot beginning tomorrow and continuing into next week. Thanks to everyone for a very successful inaugural statewide multi vendor league... I think it went very well. Except for me being too lazy to print the checks in a more timely manner🥶🤔😱.
