Closest finish in Emerald Downs dog race history! Pete, owned by Sheri from Aberdeen was the narrowest of winners in the Wiener Dog Championship, just ahead of Frank E Furter owned by Bennett of Tacoma. A winner by a Dachshund nose!

Wiener Dogs got their turn to race Sunday. Mary Poopins, owned by Brenda and Dave Sizer got the biggest cheer when she crossed the finish line! First Place for determination! Way to go Mary!

Luca the four time Wiener Race Champion who famously loves to chase our drone is not returning to defend his title this year. In March, Luca suddenly lost his eyesight due to genetic deterioration. Thankfully, he is not in pain, but he is still acclimating to life without sight. Luca has a loving family - including four human siblings who make sure he feels very loved - even if he no longer can see all of the action. His favorite pastimes these days include trying to eat the kids’ ice cream, cuddling on the couch, and taking long walks on flat terrain.

Luca wishes all the doxies the best of luck on Sunday. (Thank you to Luna’s family for providing the update and picture)
