Sundilla Concert Series & Radio Hour

Sundilla Concert Series & Radio Hour In 2023 we celebrated 30 years of bringing the best musicians from around the world to Auburn, AL... and we're still going strong! Don't be this person!

(And be sure to check out our syndicated radio show!) Somewhere, there is probably someone who lived in England in 1960 who turned down a chance to go to The Cavern Club because he had never heard of the band. "The band" in question was, of course, The Beatles. They went on to have a bit of success in the music business; enough success that the guy who didn't want to go see them play because he ha

d never heard of them is still kicking himself black-and-blue 40 years later. So when you're trying to decide whether or not you want to drag yourself out to see some unknown play at Sundilla, just remind yourself that every musician was once an unknown, and that every musician who sells out arenas for hundreds of dollars per ticket once played somewhere for under ten bucks. And someone who paid hundreds of dollars to sit in the last row of an arena once turned down the chance to sit on the first row of a small venue for next to nothing.

TONIGHT!! ABBIE GARDNER in concert at Sundilla!! Friday June 12, and showtime at the AUUF (450 E. Thach Avenue in Auburn) is 7:30. There are still some Advance tickets available for just $20 at Spicer's Music, LLC, Ross House Coffee, and online at https://www.sundillaconcerts.com/buy-tickets. Admission at the door will be $25, and $15 for students.
You already know how we feel about Abbie Gardner, but what are others saying? Here's a small sample:

"Abbie is leaving her mark by trailblazing a new path. She has fused her dobro playing, singing, and songwriting into a seamless vehicle of musical expression. If you have never seen Abbie live you owe it to yourself to do so… and if you have seen her live…you know what I am talking about."- Mike England, Bluegrass Unlimited

“...an album that’s both introspective and expressive, with the accessibility factor weighing in heavily on each of its entries” - Lee Zimmerman, No Depression

“DobroSinger is a masterclass in how to deliver a song, taught by an artist who is at the top of her game” - Ron Olesko, Folk Notebook

"The playing and singing are both impeccable and loaded with personality. You can hear every nuance of the slide, smooth one moment or rattling slightly at the end of a phrase like punctuation; and her intimate, pitch-perfect vocals—wistful, playful, confessional—sound like they’re dancing with the guitar. - Blair Jackson, Acoustic Guitar Magazine

“DobroSinger is a naked little roller coaster of an album, when we get to hear how good Abbie Gardner really is. By turns awkward, raucous, fragile, and forceful, it sounds like Abbie is in the room with me, maybe sharing a stage and, honestly, I don’t want to follow her. Nobody wants to follow her.” - Jonathan Byrd, Songwriter & Performer

"It’s not typical for a dobro player to sing lead, especially when the musician in question is a soloist. However, that is exactly what Abbie Gardner of the Americana trio Red Molly has done on her latest solo effort, DobroSinger. The end result is extraordinarily good." -- Braeden Paul, Bluegrass Today

“Jersey City’s Abbie Gardner ranks among the country’s leading players of the dobro (or resonator)…Sparse or acoustic arrangements and Gardner’s supple, emotion-filled vocals showcase the dobro’s unique tone on 11 fragile, bittersweet songs.” -- Jim Testa, NJ.com

“Abbie Gardner gives the grit to Red Molly with her Dobro playing. On her new solo CD we get to hear not only her instrumental and songwriting prowess, but her marvelously versatile voice, which can convey pain or playfulness or pure bad girl blues power.” -- John Platt, WFUV

LIVE MUSIC FRIDAY with ABBIE GARDNER in concert at Sundilla!! That's THIS Friday, June 12; showtime at the AUUF (450 E. Thach Avenue in Auburn) is 7:30, and you can still find Advance tickets for just $20 at Spicer's Music, LLC, Ross House Coffee, and online at https://www.sundillaconcerts.com/buy-tickets. Abbie Gardner is a fiery dobro player with an infectious smile. Whether performing solo or with Americana darlings Red Molly, her songs are propelled by impeccable slide guitar chops. Her live show is truly unique - as an award-winning songwriter, captivating vocalist, and a world-class lap style dobro player, she has an unmistakable sound all her own. This sound of vocals and dobro unaccompanied is masterfully captured on her 2022 CD "DobroSinger." The record hit #11 on the Billboard Blues Charts and #2 on the Folk DJ Charts. It’s a raw intimate recording full of blues and heartfelt ballads. Quite a contrast to Wishes on a Neon Sign (2018) which featured a co-write with Chris Stapleton and leaned on full band production. Though she has traveled around the world with Red Molly, Abbie stands strong as a solo act and has opened for Lori McKenna, Hot Rize, and Martina McBride.

TOMORROW! ADMIRAL RADIO in concert at Sundilla this THURSDAY, April 30. Showtime at the AUUF (450 E. Thach Avenue in Auburn) is 7:30, and you can find Advance tickets for just $20 at Spicer's Music, LLC, Ross House Coffee, and online at https://www.sundillaconcerts.com/buy-tickets. Admiral Radio, an award-winning folk/Americana act from South Carolina, is the creative partnership of Coty Hoover and Becca Smith. (For us, they’ll be a trio! So expect guitar, banjo, stand-up bass, and three vocalists.) Named after their old wooden radio, this husband-and-wife team blends heartfelt harmonies, storytelling, and raw sincerity. Having met while waiting tables in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, their sound is straightforward yet powerful—rooted in tight vocal interplay and finely picked acoustic instruments. Inspired by the everyday, their songs explore life lessons, the quiet hustle of ordinary life, and the dogged optimism that drives it all.

Simply put, Becca and Coty aim to leave listeners better than they found them. With a personal sincerity and honest performance, you might shed a few tears and roll with laughter. The duo has four independently-produced albums under their belt and has also earned finalist and first-place honors in prestigious songwriting competitions around the country, including Kerrville Folk Festival, NewFolk, the Merlefest Band Competition, Cayamo Soundcheck, and the International Bluegrass Music Association's Official Songwriter Showcase.

Known for their energetic and emotional live shows, Admiral Radio has shared stages with bluegrass legend Del McCourey, folkgrass icon Molly Tuttle, pop-rock sensation Judah & the Lion, and more. From humble beginnings to their growing buzz, Admiral Radio is redefining the folk tradition with every mile down America's backroads.
