FROGGER Scoring, Strategy, and TIPS

Intro – The first two levels are easy to play and the music draws you in. But after the first two levels this game gets tough! Beware of cars zooming by, crocodiles, snakes, and otters. Now here’s how you can hop your way to a high score.

Scoring

The game is timed and you get 60 Frog “beats” to get across the road and navigate the river to the docks. The timing bar will turn red when you have 10 or less beats to go

Advance the Frog one row – 10 points
Dock a Frog – 50 points
Each beat remaining after you Dock a Frog – 10 points
Carry a Lady Frog to the Dock – 200 points
Eat a Fly that is in a Dock – 200 points
Dock all 5 Frogs – 1,000 points

You get an extra Frog at 20,000 points

Strategy

The Lady Frog can get you some extra points. She’s worth 200, and will always be on the short log in the 2nd row.

You can jump on the crocodile, just not its head

Frogger is a game of timing and patience. Take your time and don’t try to go multiple rows at once. In later levels the 4th lane becomes difficult to cross. Its ok to take a step back before going for it.

The 11th level is very challenging. There are a couple snakes that will be waiting for you if you survive the four speeding cars.

The Dock on the far left is the most difficult. When you jump on the turtles in the second row you have to wait until the last moment to jump on the log, then to the Dock. If there is no log jump back to the log on the third row (if its there) and try again.

What’s a GOOD High Score?

Tadpole – 0 – 4,999 points
Kermit – 5,000 – 14,999
Battle Toad – 15,000 – 69,999
Bull Frog – Over 70,000

GALAGA Scoring Strategy, and TIP's

Intro – There are 2 types of stages in Galaga, Attack Stage and Challenge Stage. During the Attack Stages Aliens fire upon you and try and crash into you. In the Attack Stage Aliens will fly into a formation at the top consisting of 5 rows of 40 aliens. There are 20 Blue Aliens in the first 2 rows, 16 Red Aliens in the middle 2 rows, and 4 Galaga Bosses. During the Challenge Stage 5 sets of 8 aliens swarm in formations but do not fire or crash into you. The first 2 Stages are attack followed by a Challenge Stage. After that there is a Challenge Stage after every 3 Attack Stages.

Scoring

Blue Aliens – 50 points in formation, 100 points flying
Red Aliens – 80 points in formation, 160 points flying
Galaga Boss – 150 points in formation, 400 points flying solo, 800 points flying with 1 Alien, 1,600 points if flying with 2 Aliens

Special Scoring

Trifecta - In later Stages, one of the Blue Aliens will turn into three. A sound will warn you and the Alien will change color. Shooting down all three birds will earn a bonus of 1,000-3,000 depending on which level you are on.

Challenge Stage Points- During the challenge stage you are awarded bonus points for shooting all the aliens before they leave the screen. During stages three and seven you get 1,000 points per swarm and 1,500 points in later challenge stages. If you destroy part of the aliens you get a bonus of 100 points per alien destroyed. If you get a perfect score destroying all 40 aliens in the challenge stage you receive a bonus of 10,000 points

Strategy

Captured Ship – When a Galaga Boss flies down sometimes it will stop and shoot a tractor beam down to capture your ship. As long as this is NOT your last ship; let the Boss capture the ship. The Boss will then fly back up into formation and you will get another ship. When the Boss with the ship flies back down shoot the Boss without destroying the captured ship. If you succeed you will get both ships for double the fire power. This will help you to get all aliens during the Challenge Stages for big bonus points.

1st Attack Stage – Just blast all aliens to get to the second stage. Try shooting them down before they go into formation

2nd Attack Stage – Try and get a ship captured so you have two ships for the first Challenge Stage. For that reason let the bosses get into formation.

1st Challenge Stage – Have the two ships? Stay in the middle and fire away to get em’ all. 10, 000 bonus points if you do

Tip - In the early rounds when Aliens are getting into formation the missiles will tend to be in the center of the screen. In later stages the Aliens will start coming in faster and the missiles are more accurate. When this happens stay in a corner when they first come out, then move toward the middle. This will give you space to avoid Aliens and missiles fired as the Aliens will fly toward the corner you are at when they first appear then float around toward the middle where you moved to.

Tip - To key to get a high score is to try and get a ship captured during the attack stage before the challenge stage (as long as you have more than one ship). This will give you the best chance to get all the Aliens and score the extra bonus points

Extra Ships - Normal Settings for an extra ship is one after 30,000 and 100,000 points. Then an extra ship every 70,000 points

Ms Pac Man Strategy:

There are a few different board layouts that are different colors in Ms Pac Man. Boards 1 & 2 are Pink, Boards 3 & 4 are Blue, Boards 5 & 6 are Orange, and Boards 7 & 8 are Blue again. With each board you need to have a different game plan since the tunnels are in different areas.

Pink Board Strategy - Go around the perimeter of the board first, then work the bottom of the board. Afterwards use a strategy called "grouping". At the start of each level the ghosts will come out one at a time and scatter around the board. After a while they will start to "group" together looking for you. When they do, wait for them near an energizer. When they get close eat the energizer and go after the ghosts. When you eat the energizer the ghosts turn blue and will run away from you. Try and get them all and remember, getting the fourth ghost scores you 1,600 points

Blue Board Strategy - The top of the board is the most dangerous because the paths are restricted and you can get cornered easily. Try to have a path to an energizer while up there and get in and out. Use the lower portion of the board to evade the ghosts

Orange Board Strategy - Ghosts turn blue for a shorter period of time and are fast. Grouping is more critical on these levels. Try not to chase ghosts after eating the energizers for that reason. The board layout is not as hard as the blue, but there are only two tunnels to use as escape routes.

TIP - Watch out for the Red Ghost "Blinky". The Red Ghost will lock in and go after you!
