Enter the Night Parade ~ from Riso print to fabric 🍄🐛🌻

Some folk stories attribute the orbs of light that rise from the mountains to lingering ghosts, but it it’s a much more chaotic event that’s witnessed. The mountain spirits take the energy from deep beneath the earth and harness it for a grand parade, lighting up their path as they celebrate the lifted veil between their world and ours.

Book orders from Magic Con are headed out soon! I’m heading back to the studio this weekend from traveling and teaching at SCAD- I’ll be signing/drawing in the books and signing playmats and getting all those orders out as soon as I’m home. Thank you for your patience!

What a treat to be able to talk alongside my friend, fellow fantasy artist, and MTG art director at the SCAD forum this week!! We had to get LOTS of photos of our Lorwyn collaboration together, and did a little bit of signing together too!!!

I never thought I’d be able to talk so much about my communication and process WITH my art director RIGHT THERE to comment on why she directs a certain way and share some insight behind the notes!! It was awesome experience for me, and I hope the students loved it as much as I did!!

Thank you again .s for a non-stop week of art, super talented and dedicated students, exhibitions, and crazy wonderful hospitality!! I’m so inspired by the students as and impressed with the wide range of classes and art-filled facilities offered by !

Listening to Lauren talk about being inspired by nature and planting seeds to see what sprouts, and hearing Bobby talk about using the determination he knows is in his body to make the cool things he wants to see in the world was a dream. I’m so lucky to be learning and sharing alongside them 🥲🌱🌻🐛 (this caterpillar is a stand in for a deadly centipede).

I also LOVED being Waldorf and Statler with Lauren for when he was sharing in class lmaooo 😅😝 or should I say Cragg and Squen!!!! I had a wonderful time, thank you!!!!!!!

I walked down memory lane when a student at SCAD brought the Lightbox tote bag from 2024! I totally don’t know where my copy of the tote bag went 😭 so it was awesome being able to see it again and take lots of photos!

One of my favorite things about magic con this weekend was hearing the stories of how my cards are used practically in people’s decks and for special strategies. I heard players tell me how they reimagined their decks or their relationships to Magic based on the artwork and storytelling of the cards. Lots of people told me they’d never played Magic before seeing my work on the cards, or that it made them curious about it in the first place. These comments made the weekend so special, as I now have a deeper connection to these commissions than I had before and I’m thinking so much more about my work in the context of the game. Or maybe I’ll just draw what I want to draw and have fun :3

I also LOVED getting to draw all weekend long- it was like live drawing boot camp!! It was honestly so fun and again I could NOT have done it without my wonderful helpers Caroline and Kristian, who are like my second brain these days. I loved being able to just focus on talking to you and drawing a zillion stars. Anyway, thank you for an incredible Magic Con weekend! Next stop: West Coast Craft in SF in June!!
