Atlantic Elks 445 have been a local sponsor of the Dolly
Imagination library for many years.

From the National Elks Foundation:
Dolly Parton has long been considered the Patron Saint of the Community Investments Program, thanks to her lifelong commitment to service and dedication to advancing literacy across the country. Through her Imagination Library, children receive a free book every month from birth through age five. Many Lodges, including Kenton, Ohio, Lodge No. 157, have partnered with their local Imagination Library chapters over the years to register children as part of their CIP grant projects.

You don’t have to “work 9 to 5” to make a difference! Apply for a CIP grant today and help advance literacy in your community! For more information, visit

The Elks National Foundation is here for you. Contacting us should be seamless for you. Simply email [email protected] or call 773/755-4730 for assistance.

The Atlantic Elks are in the process of researching programs for grants. The Cass Health nursing education program is one of the programs that we would like to support. Cass Health leaders will be coming to the Elks on September 19 and sharing about their program. Today was the first of 9 Skill Labs for the nursing program. Elk volunteers will be patients for the labs. The students were learning the check in process today. Asking all the questions needed for checking in! They can learn a lot from these question! Watch for signs of stress, lethargic, fatigue, nervousness and so on! As an Elk volunteer patient, I also was learning! I look forward to the next skill lab and working with these students!

We had another morning of enriching the lives of people receiving support in the community. With Elk members, helpers and participants, we had around 50 people. We put heat press T-shirt designs on to shirts and played bingo and socialized with friends.

This evening August 22.2026, we enjoyed the presentation given by Errin and Errin (yes they both have the same name) regarding the new Zion Treatment Center at the old Cass County Willow Heights building. The presentation was very informative and surprising how many programs Zion treatment center has that can help people of all age. They were answering questions and sharing about programs! After the presentation, they joined us for the potluck where we enjoyed casual conversation.
