Our next artist is Timothy Ogunbiyi, he will be interpreting the sub category of fear through piano —————————-
He is 27 years old and when asked how he started playing the piano this is what he said ———————————————
“I always had a passion for music but never had a formal musical training until after high school when I decided to study music professionally against the wish of my parents who at the time wanted me to be an engineer.
I enrolled at the peter king college of Music Lagos where I studied jazz improvisation under the tutelage of peter king a renowned Jazz saxophonist and composer. After 2 years of studying, I was awarded a full scholarship into the Muson Diploma School of Music Lagos where I studied classical piano. I went on to acquire a Bachelors Degree in music from the University Of Lagos. During this time, I was very active in the Lagos jazz scene and was often seen playing with both local and international artists.
In 2016, I attended the NY Jazz workshop and had the opportunity of meeting other musicians from different parts of the world as well as playing in different jam sessions.
My first single Coast to Coast was released in 2017 and has since enjoyed air play on radio stations in Lagos, Kansas City and Australia. My music has been described by many as an eclectic fusion of Jazz and classical harmony with exotic underlying African rhythm.
In December 2017, I moved to the United States where I’m currently employed as a music director and also studying for a Masters degree in performance. “
