A very special show this weekend at The First Act. Our fourth Reminiscence Theatre Project, 'Once Upon Our Time'
culminated in our show, 'The Past As A Present' and was a great success. Thanks to the city of Atlantic Beach for their grant towards putting it all together. And to our Mayor Curtis Ford and Leah for coming to support the children on Saturday.
Thanks to all the children and their parents for all the hard work and encouragement and to Holly Blanton Art for the tremendous work she put into her wonderful sets. Thanks to Bella, Jillian, Nora, Carolina and Leah for all the tech and semester help and to Nico for the photographs.
Thanks to all the staff at Possibilities Plus thrift store for their support with costuming and props.
To Sarah McCawley for her writing contribution and to Ingrid McCawley for all their work with the Reminiscence Group. And especially to all the reminiscence participants for sharing their childhood stories with the children. We will miss you and all the chats on Mondays and the spontaneous breaking into songs. It was a fabulous time and your stories will be treasured by us all.
If I forgot to thank you please fogive me and consider yourself well and truly thanked for your help.
Next up, Summer Camp Bookings are on our website thefirstactcct.org

Throwback to 2012 and ABET's production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, featuring the children from The First Act. They are all somewhere out there, hopefully having a wonderful life. It was a fantastic production. They were so proud that people had to pay to come and see them! Merry Christmas to you all, wherever you are and thanks for the memories, ya hooligans!

The nice people at Voyage Jacksonville Magazine interviewed Ms Aine about our program past, present and future. If you have any friends who might like to join our Reminiscence/Theatre Project in January, do get in touch. We need some middle school children to take part too. So please spread the word about it. Sorry it's so long. I'm old.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aine Healy Richardson. Hi Aine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today? Originally from Dublin, Ireland, I [.....

The First Act are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant by the city of Atlantic Beach to help us with a very special Intergenerational Reminiscence Theatre Project in the Spring semester of 2026. The Project involves local seniors who will be invited to take part in a 12 week Reminiscence group where they will share memories of their lives from childhood to present day. They will meet with a group of children from our drama program at the outset and answer questions and tell stories to the children about their experiences at the same ages as the children. The children will then begin work with Aine and Sarah McCawley and other community volunteers to turn the stories into theatre in the form of Vignettes which the children will rehearse and perform in April 2026. The seniors and their families will be invited to come and see the performances based on their storied and to be honored. Over the course of the Reminiscence Group meetings, the seniors will also act as consultants to the production. We are very excited to bring our third Reminiscence Theatre Project to the stage at The Adele Grage and very grateful to the city for their interest and financial support in this innovative community based program. Thank you so much!!
