π°οΈ A Look Back! π¨
At First Coast Life, we're all about the creatives that make our community special! We LOVE to reshare this inspiring spotlight on artist and photographer Captain Steve Cardano!
A retired biology teacher and boat captain in downtown Jacksonville, Steve has been creating art since elementary school when his 5th-grade teacher gave him an A+ (with one request: "draw something besides ships!"). His creativity is inspired by what he observes on the water - colors, reflections, and beautiful scenes around our city. π’β¨
What makes his story special? He later discovered that his great-great-grandfather was a captain on the Chesapeake, sailing a schooner - art and the sea are truly in his blood! Now you can find him at the Atlantic Beach Arts Market at "The Captain's Corner," selling paintings and photos reproduced on ceramic tiles using recycled picket fences and dune fencing. β

My art is inspired by what I observe in my travels. Usually, it's a result of being around the ocean. Often times it's recorded as a photo or sometimes used as a subject of a painting.
