The resident now based in Los Angeles, Bilal’s love for dance music spans over 30 years — first as a devoted listener across Atlanta, Chicago, and New York, and eventually a self-taught DJ who picked up turntables simply to play the music he loved. Since launching his Swaggar Series in 2012, he’s been guided by the belief that real connection to music demands presence, curiosity, and time, with sets that move fluidly through the foundational sounds of Chicago, Detroit, and New York — with the occasional curveball thrown in for fun. Whether he is playing Burning Man, at his residencies at boutique hotel Petit Hermitage, or Disconic his mission remains simple: to share not just the music, but the people, history, and culture behind it.
