In memory of the 122 remarkable souls who perished at Orly Field on June 3, 1962, as they returned home from a cultural tour of France, carrying with them a vision for what Atlanta could become.

Artists, patrons, collectors, and leaders who understood, perhaps better than anyone, that the arts have the power to transform a community.

Yet Atlanta chose to heal through creation. From that profound loss, this community formed something lasting. The nation's third largest arts center, a living home to Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and High Museum of Art, Atlanta. Every performance, every exhibition, every flash of wonder felt inside these walls exists because of the legacy they left behind.

They dared to believe in this city. And we carry that belief forward every single day as a place where the hope and power of the arts belong to everyone.

At the Woodruff Arts Center, we believe the arts should be welcoming and accessible for every child and family.

As part of the new Goizueta Stage for Youth & Families, the Bernie & Billi Marcus Sensory Room offers a calming, supportive environment designed for guests who may benefit from a quieter space during Alliance Theatre and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performances.

This thoughtfully designed feature helps more families experience the joy of live performance and connection together, thanks to support from The Marcus Foundation.

At the Woodruff Arts Center, we see every day how the arts can strengthen lives—and now research suggests the arts can actually slow biological aging.

A recent study highlighted by NPR found that regular engagement with arts and culture was linked to slower biological aging, with impacts comparable to physical activity. From visiting museums and attending performances to singing, dancing, and creating art, cultural participation matters. And can make us healthier.

Through the work of our Art Partners—Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and High Museum of Art, Atlanta—we’re proud to help make these experiences accessible to people of all ages across Atlanta.

Eat well and exercise. That's the classic advice for living a long, healthy life. A new study suggests another habit to add to the list: Let your creative juices flow.

Thank you to all who joined us for the 2026 Luminaries Luncheon in support of arts education.

This year’s event honored The Goizueta Foundation and PNC, celebrating the opening of the new Goizueta Stage for Youth & Families and PNC PlaySpace—innovative spaces that are deepening engagement and expanding access to the arts for our youngest audiences.

Monday's program showcased the impact of collaboration between our Art Partners and supporters, with featured presentations including: Music for the Very Young: Carnival of the Animals presented by Atlanta Symphony Orchestra; “How Do the Big Kids Sleep at Night?” from The Great Ant Sleepover presented by Alliance Theatre; and remarks from the High Museum of Art, Atlanta's Andrew Westover, Ph.D.

We are especially grateful to our Event Chair Rebekah Haskin Wasserman, Host Committee, Benefactors, Corporate Sponsors (Alston&Bird, The Coca-Cola Company, Cox Enterprises, Edible Arrangements), and supporters for their commitment to advancing arts education across our campus, our city, and beyond.
