Welp, I didn’t get Teacher of the Year—but man, I won with all the incredible people in my life. 💛 My family, friends, students, and colleagues have cheered me on every step of the way, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

A very special thank you to Alex McLeod, who returned to her alma mater just to speak on my behalf. She put an accumulation of 25 years of grit, love, and dedication into the most beautiful speech. To hear Alex’s kind words, it made my heart explode and I was so proud to have taught such an amazing human. My sweet friend and coworker, Megan Kendall, has been courageously battling breast cancer for the past two years. After rounds of chemo and multiple reconstructive surgeries, her latest scans showed that the cancer has returned in several places—including a concerning spot in her left lung.

Megan is now turning to holistic treatments to help her body heal and fight naturally. These treatments are not covered by insurance, but they are vital to her journey—and they come at a heavy financial cost.

There are a few ways to rally around Megan and her family:
