GENERAL PUBLIC PARKING INFO

We are not responsible for your vehicle while you're here but we strongly recommend parking in the Emory University Hospital Midtown Parking Deck, located directly across the street from the front doors of The Shakespeare Tavern® on Peachtree Street. DO NOT park on Pine Street or in the empty parking lots on Pine Street. DO NOT park at the meters in front of our building. As of Spring 2010 the city/Park Atlanta is enforcing that the meters be paid. Our front doors lock 30 minutes after the show starts, which makes coming and going to feed the meter difficult. DO NOT park in the unattended lot on Peachtree and Renaissance Parkway.

It's our Spring Annual Fund Drive and our Founding Artistic Director is back to his usual Photoshop Shenanigans to raise some money!

Did you know Shakespeare is going to play in the World Cup?!

It's true!*

A lot of people don’t know this about Shakespeare, but in the years before he became a famous playwright, he was a star Center Forward for what was known in Stratford as The King’s New School. Of course, back then— and this is true**— it was called “Mob Football” and entire villages would compete, often across fields, streets, and rivers. Rules were minimal so, as Shakespeare reminds us:

"The game was “ruffer” in my day!"

Sadly, FIFA’s Ethics Committee has ruled that “Dead men can’t play soccer”. . .

And while even Shakespeare himself readily admits that he is in fact “technically dead*”, his legacy is alive and well at the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse!

In fact, the Atlanta Shakespeare Company presents more plays by Shakespeare each year than any other company in America, and has done so for more than 20 years! This is in addition to a prodigious array of Shakespeare Education Programs that reach thousands of (K-12) kids across Georgia and beyond.

And YOU can help sustain our extraordinary record of productivity!

This year's remaining Spring Annual Fund “GOOOOOAAL” is $87,623 by MIDNIGHT June 30th.

$5, $50 or $500 . . . EVERY gift makes a difference!
Just PITCH (pun intended) in whatever amount makes sense to you.
