A Georgia Tech Arts Catalyst Grant helped make possible an immersive arts residency at the historic Penn Center on St. Helena Island, South Carolina.

Bringing together students, faculty, and staff from across Georgia Tech, the residency explored artistic practice, cultural heritage, and interdisciplinary collaboration through hands-on workshops, creative exploration, and community engagement.

This past weekend marked the soft opening of .atl, powered by , in Georgia Tech's Creative Quarter.

The opening brought together artists, students, faculty, and community members to experience new installations, explore studio spaces, and engage with work at the intersection of arts and technology. As programming continues to grow, LOOP will serve as a place for creative experimentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and public engagement.

This Friday, Water Memory (Jala Smriti) arrives at the Ferst Center for the Arts. Presented by The Atlanta Opera and Georgia Tech Arts, this world-premiere opera explores memory, caregiving, family, and human connection through the story of a woman navigating the early stages of dementia.

Inspired by the lived experiences of its creators, Water Memory invites audiences to reflect on the people we love, the memories we share, and the ways we care for one another through life's changes.

We're excited to see LOOP featured on Atlanta News First ahead of this Saturday's opening. Representatives from Georgia Tech Arts and Goat Farm joined ATL Live to discuss the vision behind LOOP and its role in Atlanta's emerging Creative Quarter.

Opening June 6, LOOP will bring together artists, students, researchers, and the broader community through exhibitions, performances, studio spaces, and interdisciplinary programming.

This semester, GT Arts Micrograntees transformed ideas into installations, workshops, performances, screenings, and community experiences across campus and beyond.

Through 20 funded projects, GT Arts awarded $10,000 to undergraduate, graduate student, and postdoctoral creatives whose work reached nearly 1,600 people across 29 events.

Featured projects include:
• “Rest Against the Machine,” a sonic-textile installation examining AI data centers through a disability justice lens
• “Tender Buttons, Moving Pictures,” an experimental student film festival inspired by Gertrude Stein
• “Contact Copies,” a feminist cyanotype workshop exploring counter-archival AI prompting
• “Fashion of the Future,” a student-led showcase at the intersection of textiles and sustainability
• “Informality,” a pop-up public seating installation encouraging pause and connection at the Wednesday Community Market
